Is the fan running at a high speed? They are a bit noisy. Bad bearings or dust/gunk may be slowing it down and not allowing enough air to pass. I have 3 8660 B versions. I do agree the extension module is tricky and I don't have the extender kit. I know one of my extenders has an issue and I believe its a varicap or the voltage feeding it. But lifting the monster on the bench is a concern as I already have an operational one on the bench along with other heavy hp gear.
