I don't follow the Drake and Hallicrafters groups.io groups. (Those rigs were worth the effort before they became a fetish for non-technical hams... akin to Fluke anything... including hi-priced Fluke beer mugs.)
Just the same... if someone was complaining about?"affordable test equipment" ... on this list... it probably wasn't about high priced junk... but, more likely about the high cost speculators are charging for HP gear. IMO, I wouldn't say I wouldn't buy a "nanoVNA", particularly if I wanted to pretend I was doing something 'meaningful' with it... and just have some fun.
Anyway, I think I'll stick to occasionally?paying too much for something, someone fished out of a dumpster (and perhaps dragged behind their truck too)... and hope to 'fix' it... so I can have something I can actually used to do some 'work.'
