Nexxon shows stock, you'll have to get a quote to see if its real & affordable.

Microchip keeps switching to the PIC17C44 rather than the 42; I have not compared, but they show PIC17C44-33I/L stock available in March... (at least its 2022).

Mouser has them on stock here in Europe, at least the DIP variant


Also, there is a PIC17C42-33I/JW (they have a window, so they can be erased), but these are harder to find.
