I don't believe the battery was critical for anything...other than save/recall registers and, of course, the clock.
In any case, there are schematics available on Keysight's web page...although the quality of the schematics are very poor.? The vendor did not use a high enough resolution and no one wanted to spend more money on something that had no return on investment.
