Costa Rica Operations

Should have posted this here before re: Chris Drummond's Costa Rica operations. I "think" he was down there prior to 2015 but not sure. I know he was down there at least twice more after the 2015 trip. Whether all the trips were at Las Villas del Guayabo or not I have no idea.

I came across the below video shortly after it aired and I did some research on going down there, but other things took precedence. It is a beautiful country and we loved rambling about in it, even if we did have to make the concerted effort to "avoid all contact, including eye contact with Jane" Goodall.

"Joe, here is one video snippet.
Location was "Las Villas del Guayabo" which in the foothills of Miravalles volcano (about an hour’s drive north east of the Liberia, Costa Rica).

?
All the older expedition stuff from Chris seems to have vanished but I know Chris and some others were down there using TI7/homecalls several other years. Last was 2018 I think.
?
Here is the link to the ‘contest station’ at Guayabo:

?
This page also has all the info needed for customs and SUTEL as well as fillable forms to make it easy.
?
Caveat: Guayabo is not near the beach but it is pretty high up on the NE side of the volcano. I don’t remember if that’s the one we climbed up to but couldn’t see the crater due to all the steam/fog/cloud. Nice country nonetheless.

This is the place I spoke about. ?Joe, Alaska Air serves Liberia airport.

I know that they make equipment available by arrangement. They have towers for use, too.

Mac, that's a wealth of info on the DX QTH in Costa Rica. The video was helpful. The ownermust put up towers based on requests and fees paid. Are you going to contact the owner or should I or Ev do it?
Thanks for finding that!

I’ll let you or Ev do the footwork on Costa Rica.
I think Jason may have another video from Costa Rica in his youtube list too. He’s a bit rough around the edges but does offer some good nuggets every so often.

Sounds good Mac. Ev do you want to check on the Costa Rica QTH? If not I'll gladly do it. Then you can concentrate on the Roatan QTH.? Or do do both.

Joe?
