Gentlemen
It was great to have all of us on screen yesterday.? Some good discussion and planning took
place.? It was helpful for each of us to be able to indicate "probable availability" for each of
2024, 2025, and 2026.
Thanks, MAC, for sending the Costa Rica DX Lodge information. Joe is going to follow it up.
I'll continue with Roatan and PEI.? Peter is working with his contacts for the Chathams. MAC
has a friend doing recon about THE US VI status.

Should have posted this here before re: Chris Drummond's Costa Rica operations. I "think" he was down there prior to 2015 but not sure. I know he was down there at least twice more after the 2015 trip. Whether all the trips were at Las Villas del Guayabo or not I have no idea. I came across the below video shortly after it aired and I did some research on going down there, but other things took precedence. It is a beautiful country and we loved rambling about in it, even if we did have to make the concerted effort to "avoid all contact, including eye contact with Jane" Goodall. Location was "Las Villas del Guayabo" which in the foothills of Miravalles volcano (about an hour’s drive north east of the Liberia, Costa Rica).

Caveat: Guayabo is not near the beach but it is pretty high up on the NE side of the volcano. I don’t remember if that’s the one we climbed up to but couldn’t see the crater due to all the steam/fog/cloud. Nice country nonetheless.

I know that they make equipment available by arrangement. They have towers for use, too.

I'd sent a separate query about Chilean licensing, just answered my ow question.
From ARRL VEC as regards the IARP (reciprocal privileges):
"Classes of License or Permit. There are two classes of IARPs. Class 1 requires knowledge of the international Morse code and carries all operating privileges. Technician, General, Advanced or Extra class US licensees proficient in Morse code qualify for Class 1. CITEL has not issued directives on what is required to prove competence. Be prepared, if asked, to demonstrate Morse code proficiency. For foreign amateurs, Class 1 is equivalent to our current Amateur Extra Class. Class 2 does not require knowledge of telegraphy and carries all operating privileges above 30 MHz. US licensees not proficient in Morse code qualify for Class 2."
So, Joe, you'd better practice at least sending & receiving your callsign and the CE0 (Easter Island) and CE1 (Chile) identifiers (grin) Plus the slash (dah di di dah dit).

Hi all, Air NZ is using the excuse that they are trying to check to see if the “standard” weight has changed. They did weigh passengers to and from Samoa a year or two back but after ?political pressure that was stopped. ? Peter ?
