Re: Travel home

I made it to Bangor ME on Monday evening after dropping Peter at Charlottetown airport before 7:15...he had a four-hour wait for his airplane. I followed the same route as when arriving...it was quicker.? No issue at border...just the? usual questions to test my responses...and about why I was traveling in a New York vehicle.

Tuesday traveled to Seabrook NH (night on MA border). In this Best Western through tonight (Thursday). I found the memorial for my 8th Great Grandfather, Henry Blaisdell, at the old Golgotha Burial Ground in Amesbury. He was one of the founders and "prudential man." Amesbury is on the Merrimack River, one of the northernmost towns in Massachusetts.

Visited the Witch Museum at Salem. My 9th Great Grandmother, Susannah North Martin, was hung on July 19, 1792 after a court found her to be a witch, at the age of 71. She had been charged at least twice before and found innocent. This time, her obnoxious attitude got her convicted.? Her granddaughter, Hannah, married Jonathan Blaisdell, my 7th Great Grandfather, and my first Blaisdell born in America.

I have a reservation to visit the JFK Museum at Columbia Point tomorrow before shedding the car and checking in at Embassy Suites Logan Airport. I fly on Saturday.

Thinking about another ADVENTURE.? I'm going to change the name of this tool to HAM-ADVENTURERS if it allows that name.

Status is ¡°on hold¡± waiting for an in with the dental surgeon. We met George and Bernie today at Northport Back Range light. They have a nice

Keep us in the loop on any possible POTA ops. We'll work at it.

We will be on the ship, hopefully from about 1000 until 1430ish PDT. We will check conditions but probably monitor/CQ on 20 and 40 meters. There is a lighthouse activation in Port Townsend WA we will try to make contact with.

Hi Frank, thanks for the update. I will be calling the Columbia from Prince Edward Island during the ILLW. My call sign will be N7BF/VY2. I'll call using my KX2 as well as the rented QTH's 1500 W. The probability of a KX2 QSO is slim but from the rented house/QTH is very likely at 1500w. Based on the ships main antenna and past experience, what band do you recommend?

W7BU operators,

?I have most of the gear back in the radio room. Gary, Patrick and Aaron from museum maintenance moved a lot of the items from the storage container on the plaza. I will have an inventory completed this week. But...

There is no power in the radio room. The shipyard did quite a bit of work on the electrical system and evidently left us off the list. I tried?all the usual breaker box switches and Gary has been out looking at things. An electrician from the shipyard is scheduled to be here soon. I will keep you posted.

I took my KX3 out and on internal batteries using the main antenna, talked to the Noontime Net Control in Idaho on 5 watts. It is a big relief to know that our go-to antenna is working!!!

I will move the remainder of the gear out this week. Hopefully we will be able to do Lighthouse/Lightship Weekend 8/20 & 21 at full power. An extension cord may be approved for that event.

I will let you know when we can resume operations!!! Right now only the main deck is open to the public. The radio room level is set to open soon.?

Subject: Lightship progress....

Update on Ken and DX Lodge

Ken is doing well. He rates his Covid experience as 4 of 10 using his previous flu episodes.

The new carpet went in today. ?Thinking the power cords for the K3 rigs may have been mislaid during the work, Ken had two new ones sent to me by Elecraft. They arrived today and are in my luggage.

The Alaska PDX-BOS and BOS-PDX flights are doing well¡on time or early except once a week. I hope the same will be true for Peter¡¯s flights.

Ev

Re: PEI.

How close to the Lighthouse do I have to be?

As most available space in many lighthouses is usually filled to capacity, our activity does not have to take place inside the tower itself. Field day type set-up at the light or other building next to the light is OK.?Our guidelines require that the station must be AT or ADJACENT to the light. Adjacent means next to or as close as possible.?The intention behind this requirement is that the station should have a visible presence to the passing public who may be visiting the lighthouse over the weekend. Permission to operate from a lighthouse / lightship should be obtained from the relevant authorities. Operation from faux or false lighthouses, lights on poles etc. is discouraged as they are not within the spirit of the event.
