Re: Note from Ken RE: PEI DX Lodge

I am looking at the new quarantine requirement.? Ken may be able to help since he¡¯s planning to be there pre-spring.

I think we can answer all our questions except which Greek letter variant will be active in July/August.

More to follow.

Team, I echo Mac's thoughts. Nancy and I will fly into PEI, so it seems like the covid protocol is established at least for now. If after testing we are required to be in lockdown for 4 days that seems to be a big bump in the road. A few bumps that I can think if, including Mac's are as follows:
1) can I rent a car and drive to the lodge?
2) is the 4 day lockdown at the appt, or are we allowed to drive to the Lodge?
3) as Mac noted how can we buy groceries during the 4 days?
4) what about the festivals, plays, activities that Ev has checked out for us? Will they be on and if so can we attend?
5) as Mac noted, what about bedrooms? Are we enjoying a remodeled bedroom or loosing one? Think of the ladies?
6) can we go on field ops after the 4 days? Mac and Ev have researched some interesting places like lighthouses, etc.
7) what about Peter's situation??

I know that none of us have a crystal ball to predict what the polices will be in August but we need to address the issues as best as we can. Asking Ken via email etc is a good start, but a zoom meeting is better. It's easier to pose and answer questions in a zoom compared to emails or texts.

What are everybody's thoughts?

Joe

Everett, will you ask Ken how the remodel will impact the number of bedrooms/sleeping arrangements? Are we losing a bedroom or two?

Also, what are the protocols for groceries? Do we buy on first arrival before beginning our ¡°quarantine¡±?

Of course this all may (probably will) change again before August, but it also impacts my travel plans into Canada since we plan to spend extra time up there, probably before but possibly after our visit to the Lodge.

From Ken;
¡°?I was in PEI in Oct/Nov for both Sweepstakes and both CQWW DX contests. As soon as you get off the plane in Charlottetown, you line up for a rapid Covid test. You then must get another one within 4 - 6 days. And you need a PCR test within 72 hours of returning to the US. It is easy to get tests in PEI and they are free.

Right now PEI has a mandatory 4 day quarantine for everyone entering PEI, vaccinated or not. That was implemented after my trip.

I am scheduled to go back in Feb/Mar for the ARRL DX contests. If they were tomorrow, at this point, I personally wouldn't go due the Omicron surge. I see how things look in 5 weeks before making a final decision.

By the way, the ceiling started falling down in one of the rooms that wasn't previously remodeled. I am turning those two rooms and the one opposite the upstairs bathroom into a master suite with a new bathroom. It should be finished well before August.
