Callsign characters are numbered starting with 0.

So, my callsign IZ7VHF has

call_telemetry[0] = I

call_telemetry[1] = Z

call_telemetry[2] = 7

call_telemetry[3] = V

call_telemetry[4] = H

call_telemetry[5] = F

You can choose for telemetry

call_telemetry[0] = 0 (zero) or Q

call_telemetry[2] =0 (zero) to 9

so you have 20 combinations, called "channels" in our hobby.

00 is channel 0

01 is channel 1

.....

09 is channel 9

Q0 is channel 11

Q1 is channel 12

......

Q9 is channel 20

P.S.: you can choose, of course, other combinations, but that's not legal.
