VTAM
Hi, I am new to this group so here's a brief introduction: I am an ex-IBM Mainframe systems programmer. It has been a very long time since I worked with MVS but I recently installed MVS-TK5 and I am now trying to get my old (SNA) network test program working. Just curious if there is anybody out here who has a copy of one of the following manuals: - GX27-0031 Vtam Control Block Overview - GX27-0034 Vtam Reference Summary - GC27-0023 Vtam Debugging Guide - GC27-0027 Vtam Network Operating Procedures I have been searching on the internet but could not find any of the previously mentioned manuals. Regards, Rob Kemme |
开云体育Rob, Nice to see another old-timer systems programmer on the list. Good luck on your project. MVS/TK5 is a real treat. Dean On 4/8/2024 11:48 AM, Skybird via

Library of Congress is supposed to have a copy of everything registered for copyright - but may discard items after 30 years. People report retrieving long-lost software by inspecting the copyright registration, for instance. However its website points to worldcat.org and see: "IBM OS/VS VTAM : reference summary"? only 3,398 miles from Boston at Biblioteca de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. And so on. It is hard to find if this item is indeed "GX27-0034".
Perhaps neither Washington nor Madrid are helpful, but along the way there were manuals that said they would apply to MVS as well as MVS/XA and much more there. Regards, Laird Heal |
Hi I am trying to have a talk with the responsibles of the library who have these manuals stored in Madrid (I am in Barcelona). Maybe I could receive these manuals for a week and to see a way to bring to you its contents. Regards Alejandro Garcia BARCELONA????

Hi Rob
I don't have copies of the manuals you mention. However, I did backports of two ACF programs to the MVS 3.8 level of VTAM when I created TK4-: - TESTVTM2 (original by B. Dissen) and SNASOL, a modification of it. See updates in?SYS2.ASM(TESTVTM2) and?SYS2.ASM(SNASOL). - JRP (original by Mike Shortman and Scott Vetter). See the updates in?SYS2.ASM(JRPUPDT). Probably you will be able to find the relevant differences in behavior between ACF and non ACF VTAM in the modifications of these programs. Cheers 闯ü谤驳别苍 |
