Do a listcat on the catalog DSN to see primary and secondary?sizes.
might be able to do an ALTER DS(catalog) CYL(50 10) to create secondary extents if you haven't used them all up.? Or export / import the catalog to reorg it.
It's quite interesting to find out there's quite a lot of complex stuff relating catalog creation and maintenance...?
In my case, I've found that, while performing a big reduction on the number of cataloged dataset on my user catalog has aleviated the problem, still, something seems to be wrong, since even with a total number of entries now well bellow the total number of entries correctly held in the past, still, a return code 20 / NOT CATLGD 4 has happened (I further deleted more entries, and the job ran just fine, but it failed on the first run with a catalog that had well bellow 50% less entries than yesterday, so I think it definitely shouldn't)...? so I feel there's still a chance that either the way I defined the user catalog (too poorly, sure...noob on the bridge) or a problem due to the kind of usage it has had (or possibly a combination of both) has ended up with a 'broken' catalog.
Learning how to properly define a usercatalog on MVS3.8 and how to perform a migration/replacement appears aquite an interesting challenge and a way to learn a lot! :-) ... but that's another history.
