Found the problem. On my system, running unattended/set_console_mode puts CONSOLE\r\n in the unattended\mode file, and that's not seen as being equal to CONSOLE. Removing the \r\n manually in an editor fixed the issue.
OK, dumb question. How the heck do I submit a job on TK5? I haven't been successful in switching it out of daemon mode to issue commands on the console, and I can't find where to drive the thing. I've run unattended/set_console_mode, and unattended/mode contains the single line CONSOLE. I'm on Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS, an Ubuntu Linux variant.
