Well, another option is to add a paging volume, define a page data set, add it.
Then for the datasets in use, drain the dataset, delete, define, and add.
Then drain the new dataset and leave in place for the next time, or
for a high use occurrence.

Nobody else had seen this, so I never investigated any further, and I have just made sure ever since that I don't close my laptop. I saw the problem whenever I closed the lid with either MVS or MVT running; DOS/360 and DOS/VS were never affected.
