I had several active emails floating about, including two in groups.io.?

I went to the groups.io page and changed the email to the one I'd like?
to use. I got a message that the email already existed and would I like?
to merge things from the email I was dropping to the one I wanted
to use. I owned a group under?the to-be-merged from email.?
?
After allowing the merge, I am no longer owner of that group and
so no longer have any admin access. This presents all the issues and
problems you might expect, i.e.,
?
Is there a way to fix this without having to delete the current group,?
which I presume means all members and messages are lost? If the?
only solution is to delete/recreate the group, is there a way to?
export/import the current member list and all previous messages
now that I am no longer owner?
