1. The last day or so of messages in the old group don't show up. Is
it because the download Mark used was done a day before the transfer?

I think that's correct. The problems with copying Files and other content probably spread out the copy operations more than they normally are.

I downloaded those messages. If I offer the .txt file of those
downloaded messages that I downloaded, would Mark be able to use that
and add them?

Yeah, that one's for Mark.

It may depend on how you downloaded them. If you used the Chrome app from YahooGroupedia that's probably the best, as it will include the full view source of each message. If you screen-scraped them from the Conversations section that probably wouldn't work with the tools he has. It is also possible he'd be willing to update the archive using the tools he's written.

2. At the time of the transfer there were only two members on the
groups.io (my own addresses). In the message from groups.io telling me
the transfer was complete, in the section "The following email
addresses were not added", there were four that said "already
subscribed". The other two were definitely not on the subscription
list before the transfer. The group was not in the directory at the
time and I only ever saw '2' as the number of members.

That's odd, but beyond checking to see that they are now in the group I don't think I'd worry about it.

Could it be they were already a member of a different goups.io
group, so were 'in the system'?

No, that shouldn't matter. Their subscriptions would still need to be added in your group.

3. I noticed that if you change to digest, you will start receiving
digests from the first message after you changed. This means that
digests are not the same for every member. What's the point of that?
Doesn't it make sense for all digest subscribers to have identical
digests?

That's not how digests work here - they are individually crafted. That's because members can mute and follow topics or hashtags. See also:

4. ... more frustrating is the time being used is US-PST. I looked
around the settings and couldn't find a way to set, at least my own
account, if not the whole group, to my local time zone. Is there a
setting for that?

It is an account setting. Choose Account from the drop-list on your name, on the right in the top blue banner.

Too late now for the transferred members, but there's also a default you can set for new members who join in the future. Find that on the Default Sub Settings tab of your group's Settings page.

5. I have one more group I would like to transfer. I have all the
members and messages downloaded. Would Mark be able to use those
files, if I send them to him (as mentioned in #1 above?)

Again, a question for Mark. I know he has in the past accepted lists of addresses from other types of email list systems, but that hasn't before been relevant for Yahoo or Google groups.

I would assume 'transfer' then does not need to be a member, right?

Sounds right to me, if you're not planning to have the transfer agent copy photos, files or other content.

7. Was there ever a reason given why there is not a comment box on the
page for joining the group?

I think it is just lack of a round tuit. It has been discussed in beta@ in various forms and is on the to-do list:

Same as any "Freemium" service: visibility, word-of-mouth, and the possibility that some of the free users will eventually upgrade.

It can. But that's considered normal for this business model.

That's not good. That long footer comes out in two sections. I put the URL of our website in the Message Footer section of my group and it's coming out between the two sections. Doesn't make sense and looks very strange. Also, many of the member of my group only have email access and don't even have Internet access at all, so none of the links in the automatic footer are useful to them. I was thinking of putting some of the email commands in the group's Message Footer section, for them to use, but it will be so long and if it comes out after the automatic footer, it's pretty much useless.

There has been some discussion and requests for this on beta@, and (and possibly others.)? Both are now moderated, but you can still add comments if they're approved.? I don't see anything about it on yet, but that doesn't necessarily mean that Mark isn't aware/working on it.
