Unsubscribed from my own group where I was owner after Firefox problem

Recently Firefox sent an upgrade that rendered to browser disabled. It came with a error message of XULRunner.

Solution was to reload Firefox. I got a professional who did that and promptly lost all my bookmarks. In addition, I had to rejoin all my sites that had passwords. Since my group, migrated here from Yahoo Groups my group is some 20 years old and I have no idea what my password is.

The new password directions yielded nothing. I am the Owner and Moderator, but I have a co-owner and Moderator. I don't think I have the official address of my group, because the sites that have it linked are disabled as well.

Now what?

Mod's note: Added "after Firefox problem" and took out the Re:

Well, the good news is your co-owner can reinstate your ownership privileges if you have been unsubscribed.

Second, you say that you don't know the address of your group. What about in your email? Or do you have a contacts list or any documents you wrote about your group, perhaps instructions or drafts? Or can you google your group? Some groups allow public posts.?

Others may have suggestions. But first, I would contact your co-owner.

Help available from Groups.io help and GMF wiki.

Ray,

Go to groups.io and search for your groups. If they are publicly listed, you
can find them that way. Next, your password. As long as you are at the same
email address, you can use the reset password feature when you try logging
into groups.io. It will send a link to your email for resetting the
password.

Once you get logged in again, you should be able to access all your groups.

I just Googled "ray_r.rm" and come up with this:?[email protected] | Message History.. Does that help?

If you go to the Groups.io login page?and hit the "Email me a link to log in" button, you should get an email with a link to click that will give you access to your Groups.io website.? (Note, unlike many sites, Groups.io does not send a temporary password.? They just send a link to click that gets you in automatically.? That sometimes confuses member of my group.)? Anyway, you should be able to click the link, get in, and then update your password.? Did you try that and have something weird happen???

So you lost your bookmarks and stored passwords. That's always inconvenient.

You have not been "unsubscribed" from any of your groups, nor have you lost ownership of any of your groups. You simply need to log in.

Fortunately, you don't need a password to log in here. See below for instructions, verbatim from the Member's Manual.

You can subsequently set a new password at?/account, if you wish.

Bruce

To log in to your Groups.io account without setting a password:

  1. Go to the?Groups.io website?(or a specific group¡¯s website) and click the?Log In?link at the top right of the page.
  2. On the resulting Log In page, enter your email address, then click the?Email me a link to log in?button.
  3. When you receive the email message (the subject is ¡°Link to log into Groups.io¡±), click the login link provided in the message. You are logged in to Groups.io, and your?Groups.io home page?is displayed on the website.
Note:?The login link in the email message expires after 24 hours.

Check out the groups.io Help Center?and?groups.io Owners Manual

Also remember that the site (re)sets a cookie every time you visit that will keep you logged in for 30 days.? That's why many have never had to log in.
