Transferring UK Group

I am trying to transfer a UK group to groups.io.? Transfer has accepted the invitation and is a member of the group.? When I try to start the transfer I put in the groups email address

7mm_archive@...

which is flagged as not a valid email address presumably because of the default @yahoo.com at the right side of the entry box

How do I go about transferring my group?? I can't be the only one trying to transfer? UK group.

TIA

It is likely that "@" works too.? I think Yahoo always had things set up to redirect to unique country codes when they exist.? So try removing the "@" and let it use "@".? (It shouldn't use "@" though.? Groups don't use that domain.)

Andy

I seem to remember reading that spaces, underscores, slashes etc are not allowed in group names...

Underscores are OK in Yahoo group names.

Spaces and slashes would not be OK.

I transferred a Yahoo UK group just by putting the Yahoo name in the field request and ignored the party after the "@" symbol.? Worked perfectly.

Mike Conder?

Hmm...

Underscores are OK in Yahoo!Group names.

Underscores are NOT OK in Groups.io group names.? Bummer.

I guess that's why you got the error message?? Does the automated transfer process have a way to translate underscores in the name to something else?

Regards,
Andy

You have to create the new group before you can initiate a transfer, so this issue with acceptable characters should be encountered upon group creation and has no bearing on the transfer agent.

I suspect the underscore restriction has something to do with the subdomain addressing that one encounters in groups.io when creating subgroups. Y!G has no subgroups.

My io group does not have an underscore and I am still waiting for something to happen.

Bruce is correct.? My group name has an underscore as we followed the same name as the YG before transferring over 1 year ago.? Now in order to create a subgroup I would have to rename the group and take out the underscore.
