Hi Vickie,
Yes you can add a photo which is one reason I went with IO as most of the others you could not use a photo that I could see!?

There may be some confusion over terminology.

All Groups.io groups come with a default black-and-white cover photo of some elephants on the open plain. You see that on Beta, for example. So I'm confused over what you mean by groups that had no photos.

Here in GMF I replaced it with a photo I took of some elephants. You can upload your own in the "Cover Photo" tab of the settings page.

Like the "cover image" on Yahoo groups, it is at the top and banner-shaped. Unlike Yahoo groups it doesn't head every page of your group, only the home page. Also unlike Yahoo Groups, it doesn't get all weird if your photo isn't banner-shaped.

I would love to see the front page of any group with it's group front
page photo.. I would like to see what it looks like
Here's one with both a cover photo, and one embedded in the group Description text.

Could there be some confusion here between Yahoo's "title page photo" and "home page photo"? Yahoo has both. I think Groups.io just has the equivalent of Yahoo's title page photo. I guess you could call that a cover photo.

I personally think 's cover photo is more equivalent to YG's 'title photo,' because that's the at the top. The home page photo on YG is halfway down the page. But it doesn't really matter! You can have a photo!

Olivia,
?
There does not seem to be any constraints to the photo that you can have on your group's home page.? It doesn't necessarily have to be shaped like the cover photos that are on Yahoo Groups.? Take a look at my group:? /g/Artists_Cafe
You can also look at my friend's group:? /g/BreastCancer2Group
?
Donna
?

oliviaj catlady

Donna,

I didn't ask any question about photo constraints, so I don't know what this is about. I've been happy with my cover photos on all of my Groups.io groups so far. Thanks.

Yahoo calls the photo at the top a banner photo. The smaller one lower down is homepage photo.

(I can't find how to initiate a new topic from the web-page and am rather rushed right now so I'm replying to this somewhat related topic.)
When I set up the description in my group (/g/EvanstonPFWatch) I couldn't find a way to single-space my type. I found the advanced tool bar but don't see anything to do with spacing. Am I missing something or is single-spacing not an option?

As always, thanks so much for your help.

The cover photo must be of a certain size to match the cover?
I am asking because I uploaded a cover photo in my beta tester group, but it did not fill up all the cover space (as the elephants did).

Marina

The cover photo is sized at 900x300.? If your photo is larger or smaller, it's resized to fit within those limits.? You could fill it by using one exactly that size.

Duane

Thank you, Duane.
So the photo chosen for the cover must be equal or larger than 900 x 300.
The one I originally chose was smaller and the system did not scale it, it simply placed the photo in the centre, leaving two blank spaces on each side.
