Photo Album Ownership

We have a lot of Photo Albums in our group, and these were set up by members when we were on YG. I've noticed going through many of the albums, and looking at some of the pictures in those albums, at the bottom of the picture it displays my name (Owner/Moderator) instead of the person that really put those pictures in the album to begin with. How can I get the rightful ownership of those albums and pictures back to their owners?

At present, there's no way to change that other than having the original person create an album and upload them.? I don't see anything about this on the TODO list, so you might suggest it on

Where these photos copied in by the transfer agent? And if so, did you do the transfer in two steps (content before members)?

In my groups the transfer agent got this right, as expected. So I'm uncertain what happened in your case.

How can I get the rightful ownership of those albums and pictures back
to their owners?
Such a feature, if it existed, might be problematic. But maybe if it were limited to a moderator re-assigning ownership to a member (or other mod/owner) that would be a solution.

Shal,

Yes, the albums were transferred by the agent. I did not transfer anything, it was all done by the agent. I told mark what to transfer, and those items were the Membership List, Photo Albums, and Archived Posts. I took care of the Databases, Files, and Links, before the transfer. It appears what I will have to do is let the owner of the album download all their pictures, then I would delete the album, letting the member make a new album to upload their pictures too.

Hmm. Sounds like an anomaly to me.

Did the messages get proper attribution, or did they come out as from you as well?

Before starting that effort I'd contact [email protected] and see what they have to say about it. Perhaps they can go in and make the corrections without needing to re-upload. At the very least Mark will want to investigate why this happened and make sure it isn't happening to others.

" Did the messages get proper attribution, or did they come out as from you as well?"

Do you mean the archived messages?

Don

Don,

Do you mean the archived messages?
Yes, I specifically mean the messages copied in from the Y!Group.

Shal

Shal,

From what I can tell, there is nothing wrong with the messages. I'm not sure what Mark could do about this. Do you?

I'm not sure either.

But I think his copy mechanism normally obtains the author information for each item. In the case of photos that would identify the member who uploaded them. If he still has that information it is possible he could retroactively apply it to the photos that were copied.

Or maybe he could re-run the Photos copy, assuming he found and fixed whatever problem caused them not to have their original owner info copied into your Groups.io group.

Shal,

What email address should I use to tell Mark about this issue?

Don

I'd use [email protected]
