Changing Email of Owner..

 

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I created a group, but don¡¯t want my email address to be shown as the owner of that group.? I don¡¯t want to delete the group as I won¡¯t be able to use that group name again for some time, but **DO** want to retain the group name.

?

Any suggestions!

Create a throwaway email address such as a gmail, make it an owner, and remove your real Email address as owner.?

Or, don't remove your primary email address, leave it in the group as a backup owner "just in case".

Unless you're planning to make the Members list available to members (most groups don't) the members won't know that your primary address is associated with the group - unless you post using that address.

We had a similar situation several years ago. I am co-administrator of a listserv (real L-Soft listserv) that runs on a co-op Linux server that was located in the home of one of our members. He wanted to participate actively in discussions, but wanted to remain anonymous so other members would not give weight to the fact that he essentially completely controlled the operating environment when he posted. A secondary reason may have been that he and his wife were retired spooks who had worked in Navy intelligence. So he had a ¡°public¡± email address and a private one that he just used to communicate with the other admins. He passed away several years ago, and at that time we were finally able to reveal his identity.

As far as the server is concerned, we moved it to a virtual instance on because we clearly couldn¡¯t leave it in his now empty home.
