Archives visibility to non-members

Hi,

in my group settings it is said: "Archives are visible to subscribers only", but seems, that they are visible to non-members, too. Is that a bug or what should I change to be get them non-visible?

Thanks,

Mauno

Mauno,

only", ... or what should I change to be get them non-visible?
That indicates that on the Settings page of the group, in the Privacy section, the Visibility option is set to one of the choices that says "private messages".

Which is the correct setting for what you want.

... but seems, that they are visible to non-members, too.
That setting controls only the Messages.

The group's home page is always visible to the public. If your group has enabled the wiki and/or calendar those have their own controls.

Is that a bug
If you mean that the Messages content is visible to non-members that would be a serious bug. Can you give us any more detail about how you are seeing them?

No, it definitely wasn't or hasn't been. We owners didn't even notice to check it, because we relied on the text on the main page.

Yes, I meant only the message archive. It was visible for non-members, fortunately a member alerted about this.

I was seeing them via any link found by googling,? I tested it by logging out. Now I changed the setting to subscribers only and everything is fine.

But the problem was the original incorrect message on the main page, which led us to believe, that the messages were protected.

Interesting.

The Home page list of settings ought to be consistent with the group's actual settings, anything else would be a bug. Or possibly a stale web cache of the Home page somehow.

That would be consistent with it still being set to "public".

Right. I wish I could think of a way to reproduce this problem so as to make a solid report to [email protected]. I think one would need to create a new test group to check it.
