Any way to temporarily "suspend" or turn off access to a sub-group?

Simple question:?Any way to temporarily "suspend" or turn off access to a sub-group? Don't wish to delete, just suspend access, etc.

Thanks.

You can make it an Announcement group which will only allow moderators to post messages, or you could lock it. Both are controlled via your group settings and covered in the Owner's Manual.

Note the Owner's Manual still says the Announcement option is under Spam Control and Moderation Settings but this was changed recently to Group Type and Moderation.

Thanks, but I DO NOT want to lock my main group!? Only the sub-group.? I don't see any "lock it" option that just applies to the sub-group--the sub-group does not have its own "settings" option, and I don't see any such option in settings for "lock it" for the sub-group in the main group settings... am I missing something?

Subgroups have their own settings and the Lock button is at the bottom of the page just like the main group.

ok, so I finally found "settings" in the sub-group (if over the years I've ever gone there for the sub-group it's been a long time, or I can't ever remember), but when I click on "lock it" in the sub-group I get:

"Lock this group? Locking the group prevents any changes to the group, including messages, files, photos and databases."?

I'm not in the mood to screw up my main group and it scares me that it says "lock this group" and NOT "lock this sub-group" so I'll leave it for another day to "experiment" if it will really lock the sub-group and not the main group.

Thanks.

A subgroup is virtually a separate entity with settings independent of the main group.? If you click the Lock button in the subgroup settings then that's what it will do, regardless of whether it says group or subgroup in the confirmation prompt.? Once locked, you will see the following where you can unlock it:

You can lock and unlock it as needed so there's no harm in trying.

Though perhaps, a #suggestion to beta@ to have subgroup controls and messages explicitly state subgroup would be something I would support.

Best,

Glenn

Remember that Groups uses the common noun "group" to refer to ALL groups - both main and subgroups. If you are in the settings for a subgroup, then whatever you are seeing referred to as "group" is the subgroup. So, if you are locking or unlocking a subgroup it will always ask you "Lock this group" - it means the subgroup, not your main group.

_._,_._,

When in doubt look at the breadcrumb trail panel up top, it shows you where you are.? For example,

If you see Main in there in the second part (after the | ) or whatever else you may have named the main group, then you are not in a subgroup but in the main one.
