Sign -up form

I have added the sign-up form to my website, is there any option to have the person enter their Name and email?

?

Are you planning to manually invite them to the group?? If so, you enter their name and email on the invite screen as needed.

Joe Smith <jsmith@...>?

This would enter their name in the system on acceptance.

If the email in a subscription?request, it gets the name off the email and if they sign up on the web, its from their profile.

Can you explain your form and how it will tie to the group?

Assuming you're working with the code from the Promote page, no, it doesn't appear that there is. Just the email address.

Though I wouldn't be surprised to find that somewhere in the process Groups.io would collect the user's name from an email confirmation or login page or some such.

That sounds like a good idea to drop into the "suggestion box" (the beta group).

Shal- Correct I am using the form code from the promote page. It only captures the email address, then when the person receives the email all they do is confirm the email, so you get a member added with no name? I will send a suggestion box. Do I need to join that group first? --Sandra

Correct

If the email in a subscription request, it gets the name off the email
If there is a name on the email address
and if that is their name, rather than a ¡®user name¡¯, ¡®handle¡¯, or ¡®nickname¡¯.

and if they sign up on the web, its from their profile.
If they do
and if they enter their name, rather than a ¡®user name¡¯, ¡®handle¡¯, or ¡®nickname¡¯.

The form would require for name as well as email address
Upon acceptance (if group is restricted) the system would enter the name as it does when entered in an invitation,
(and would ¡®tie to the group¡¯ in the same manner).
