Group owner - MIA

Good morning¡

I am a moderator ¨C actually, the only moderator ¨C on [email protected] | Home group. The group owner Richard Barker appears to have fallen off of the face of the Earth over the past year or so and doesn¡¯t respond to any emails and/or participate in any group-related activities so I can¡¯t help wonder if some misfortune may have happened to him¡(??)

Several years ago, Richard contacted me and asked if I would consider taking over as the group owner as IIRC he was experiencing some health issues. I replied in the affirmative and wished him well, but then¡nothing ¨C never heard anything more¡(??!)

Is it possible for you to contact him directly by telephone and/or mail and see what¡¯s going on? As a moderator, I am limited as to what housekeeping tasks that I can do (such as updating our group cover photo and description, both which are sadly out of date) so I would like to be able to do that, either by expanding my moderator privileges if Richard is still involved or by transferring the group ownership to myself if he has suffered misfortune or perhaps even passed on.

Your assistance in this matter would be much appreciated, or if not perhaps who best to contact that might be able to assist.

Best regards.

Jim Brown

Hello, This is a peer-to-peer support group, with no management as members or monitoring it. So we can't get at the admin side of your group. Have you tried to contact the group-owner (whoever is that now) by emailing?[email protected]

I see there are active members - GaryD52 etc. ?
If all else fails, you can email [email protected]
but first check this out: ?/helpcenter/faq/1/group-owner-moderator-faq/q-the-sole-owner-of-a-group

This is a volunteer user-to-user group, so we can't do anything more than you can.? Unfortunately, we see this quite a bit when an owner doesn't have a co-owner or at least a moderator with all privileges.? Your only option now is to contact [email protected] to see if they are willing to get involved.? Be aware that they tend to ignore requests from free/basic groups, concentrating on Premium and Enterprise groups that are paid.

I see that Richard's last post was about 3 years ago.? If you have access to the Activity log on the group, you should be able to tell if he's done anything since then.

Lots of detailed information can be found in the Owners Manual and Members Manual.

Have you thought starting your own group doing the same thing this group does now?

Hi all¡

I¡¯m going to post an inquiry to our group and see if there are any members who might know the group owner personally that might be able to contact him ¨C or advise if there is some issue.

As far as starting a new group, there are 1,436 members and a wealth of accumulated information stored within past Messages, Files and Photos so that would be far from an insignificant task that quite frankly, I would not wish to take on; I have no particular ambition other than be able to do some housekeeping tasks to make our group more current and thus more relevant.

Best regards and thanks to all who have taken the time to respond!

Jim
