Re: Question About Members List List #membership

Don,

Is the Join email sent before or after the transfer to Groups.io?
If you mean your group's Welcome notice, that (if you set one up) and the system-generated welcome notice are sent to each copied member after the copy of membership and content is complete.

Originally those had been sent when the membership was copied, but that sometimes prompted eager members to post while the copy of the messages was still in progress, causing the messages to be intermingled. So now the welcome notice is deferred until all content is complete.

"Members copied in by the transfer agent don't need to be approved. It is presumed that the fact they were members of the Y!Group is sufficient approval."

Is the Join email sent before or after the transfer to Groups.io?

Re: Question About Members List List #membership

Don,

Our YG transferred over to Groups.io recently, and members of the old
group have slowly coming over to the new group. When I look at the
Members list I notice about 60 percent have a current date of joining,
and the rest have join dates well before the date our site was
officially formed on Groups.io.
The members with recent dates likely joined your Groups.io group on their own. The members with older dates were copied in by the transfer agent.

These dates look like dates these people joined our old YG site,
That's correct.

thus making it very hard to know who actually joined our new site.
All the members shown in your Members list have. Or rather, the ones copied in didn't have to join, the transfer agent did that for them.

Along with that situation, I know all the members that came over were
not in the Pending page to be approved. What's going on here that I
need to know?

Re: Auto-Send Regularly Scheduled Member Notices

Hi Paula,

A possible solution is to use the Reminder facility within Calendar?

Auto-Send Regularly Scheduled Member Notices

Paula McMullen

Hello,
I'm new to io so I'd appreciate some direction. ?Is it possible to auto-send a message to a group at regularly scheduled times? ?I have a notice that needs to be sent every two weeks. ?How can this be accomplished?
Thanks in advance,
Paula

Database Search II

I have many databases in our group, and I'v noticed something peculiar when I do a search on one of them. Six dbases have some information found in all of them, and when I do a search for a particular item in one dbase, the results of the search will also display that particular information in the other dbases, along with what I'm looking for. It's like these dbases are connected, so a search in one is a search in all of them. This does not seem like a normal operation to me. Is it?

I¡¯ll use whatever you implement. This is so-o-o much better than Yahoo.?

As a genealogy buff I already use three different formats it¡¯s simple, you follow the suggestions.

Re: Yahoo email address contortions

David,

I have no idea what you are talking about. This has nothing to do with
Yahoo.
Oh, but it does. It has everything to do with Yahoo Mail, and their decision to break almost every mailing list on the planet. AOL and a few others followed suit.

One of my people send a message to the group and his email is
modified like that.
That member must be using one of the accursed email services.

If I can stop it please let me know.
You can't, but the member could chose a less benighted email service.

That being said, I am I think signed up on this group as a daily
summary and I am getting all the messages one by one all day long.
Putting on my GMF owner hat, I can confirm that you have two subscriptions to this group, at two different email addresses. One that joined Jan 22nd and is set to Summary, and a second that joined early this am my time (10:43am UTC), and is set to Individual messages.

Hi Back SP4149, I'm the other sort and nothing is happening.? Have not yet gotten an answer from support either.

I suspect the problem is the email address at groups.io isn't the same at the yahoogroups one but I've sent an email from both accounts.? I seem so far to be in limbo-land but I haven't spammed them with many messages yet..?

Re: Closing chats - moderators? #Discussion

Hello - Has there been an attempt to get clarification from support on this or should I give it a try??
Thanks

That¡¯s a classic sign the users don¡¯t realize they were reading individual messages in their email box and are now reading them online.

Accepted reply to event #calendar

Group is on the free plan.? Created event and checked "send invite to group".
A while later a message is posted that says "Accepted: [xxx] Event: xxxxx" from one of the members.
Since the group does not have RSVPs, I'm asking myself - "Where did that come from?" or more accurately "How did that happen?"
I imagine that the member's calendar sent a response to the group when they saved the event from their email or some such.
In my Gmail, it parses the invite email and offers "Add to calendar ?" which creates an event in my calendar.? Doing that and even clicking "Yes I'm going" did not generate a reply back to the group (which makes sense because it sees me as the organizer of the event, not the group).
Just posting as a "behavior to be aware of" as I'm not sure it's a bug.? But I doubt the member expected a message to be posted to the group that she was coming the meeting.
