Re: Anonymous Polling
Thank you Duane and Peter.
I was hoping we could do a poll where an admin and/or owner could not look at how the members voted. Kind of stymmies people from voting if they know that admins and owners can all see how they voted. Seems like it would not be a difficult thing to implement just toss the 'who' part of the responds to a trash bin folder. With Kind Regards. Celestia? |

I would treat it that as they replied to an obvious mailing list they wish to be subscribed. They weren't replying to any message, as they can't receive messages from the group as a non-member (they never saw a post from the group). They were only sending a message TO the group, and the group settings apparently allow for that, but those messages are moderated. This prevents spamming the group by non-members. I don't understand why a group would allow this option since the non-member can't really participate and receive replies to his/her post anyway, but it is an option (sometimes set because this was overlooked when setting up the group). Information about members in a Mailing List
Good morning,
I have created a list on groups.io of people to whom I send messages regarding a Mailing List I own. Looking at the list of subscribers to the group that I attach , I noticed that one person subscribed (Elio) in the email column appears two letters IL on a fuchsia red background. What does this mean? Thanking Dario Mod's note - while the screenshot was useful, it seems that it also was a privacy issue. Deleted. |

Re: Any way to temporarily "suspend" or turn off access to a sub-group?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI'm not in the mood to screw up my main group and it scares me that it says "lock this group" and NOT "lock this sub-group" so I'll leave it for another day to "experiment" if it will really lock the sub-group and not the main group. When in doubt look at the breadcrumb trail panel up top, it shows you where you are.? For example, If you see Main in there in the second part (after the | ) or whatever else you may have named the main group, then you are not in a subgroup but in the main one. Cheers, Christos |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAOL filters the spam mail and gio is not ¡°blocked¡± in my settings. ?AOL nortoriously sends stuff to my junk folder even if the address is not on the list to block.?The only way I have circumvented this is to put spammed e-dresses in my AOL contact list! If there is another way to cross the moat, please advise! ? Yrs back AOL had many more spam blocking options than currently. ?Like domains, ¡°containing¡± words, etc. And could white list. ? r/ Ken K |
Re: Any way to temporarily "suspend" or turn off access to a sub-group?
Remember that Groups uses the common noun "group" to refer to ALL groups - both main and subgroups. If you are in the settings for a subgroup, then whatever you are seeing referred to as "group" is the subgroup. So, if you are locking or unlocking a subgroup it will always ask you "Lock this group" - it means the subgroup, not your main group.

Re: Anonymous Polling
There are 3rd party polling services you can use. I've used them in the past, but they are not completely opaque, either. On messages going to spam, need to unblock groups.io.? The only time you'd need to add to your address book is if you got an answer that marked as spam, after using 'reply to sender'.? That will send to the person's email vice the group.? Check spam filter before dumping it. |
