Re: Posting as Owner / Moderator

Right, it's not working yet. The dropdown is there (which surprised me) but unfortunately, it doesn't change the email address in the archive OR in email. Re: I'm puzzled!!
When you see a link in a contact list or a message, you are seeing a link written in HTML.? This is the code used for web sites and links.? A "mail to" link has the portion that you see in your list, but there is another portion that you can't see that contains the actual email address.? So, when you edited the address, you only edited the visible portion, not the actual code of the link. In order to get the actual address, you would have to edit that html portion also.

Even better if you forward the raw email including headers. Depending on your email client, the option will be something like "Show Original".

Or it might be even easier just to forward the actual email rather than just copying the text. --? Gerald Boutin On Tue, Mar 20, 2018 at 05:35 pm, Shal Farley wrote:

It would seem the option has been around for quite some time, based on a Trello card dated January 23, 2015.?"Web posts from group owner should show in archives as being from group+owner, not the person who posted." The card was also updated Feb 20, 2015 for "Also ability to reply as group+owner." So, it seems those additional features are not yet implemented. ? --? Re: Transfer group
Joe,
Hilarious. It is impossible to know from the displayed result whether Groups.io made a mistake forming the message, AOL made a mistake displaying it, or something else. I think you should forward that to [email protected] just as you did here (and hope the same thing doesn't happen). In another of my groups there was a problem with the transfer. All the message archives did not copy over and several other problems. Like we would approve messages and they did not go to the message board. Mark did do another transfer and fixed the problems with messages. I was kind of hoping it can be done with this other group as well. We shall see Thanks Joe Bruce Bowman 6:53 pm ? #6356??
If you've already received some kind of "transfer completed" message then I suspect Mark is not planning to work on it any more. It won't hurt to ask him but I'm sure there are other groups waiting in the queue.
It's my understanding that Yahoo Groups has been down a lot recently and you may be forced to transfer some content manually...if you can.?Frankly, if "in most groups [out of 22] the info was transferred with no problems," I think you should count your blessings. Good luck, Bruce |

Re: Can someone explain to me... unsubscribed for marking a message as spam

I have pasted the "work in progress" version of the wiki page into the Group...I've done something similar...that is, to create a member notice with the appended text. It's called "Some Notes on Spam Filters." So far, I haven't had to send it to anybody, but I suspect it's only a matter of time. I plagiarized much of it from others here on GMF with only minor edits on my part. All credit to them. Hope this helps, Bruce Recently, many ISPs and email services have implemented a new "feature" that was supposed to reduce spam for their email users. When you mark a message as spam in one of these email services, it sends an unsubscribe request to Groups.io. Unfortunately, Groups.io and similar services must comply with this arrangement or risk having ALL of their messages blocked by that email provider. Some providers will even do this without your intervention. What does this mean to you? If you mark a message from Groups.io as spam, or leave a message from Groups.io in your spam folder for too long, your email provider could send us an unsubscribe request, forcing Groups.io to unsubscribe you from this group. Groups.io has created a work-around that returns a message with a hyperlink that will immediately resubscribe to our group. The problem is, if that message also lands in your spam folder and you don't notice it, you remain unsubscribed. The options available to prevent this behavior depend on your ISP. The best way, if available, is to "whitelist" the groups.io domain (or [email protected] specifically) so that all group email is forwarded to inbox. Or you may be able to set your spam filter to not hold spam but instead *mark* it as spam and forward it to inbox for you to decide whether to delete it. That way the spam trigger isn't set and you won't lose any messages that your ISP thought could be spam but wasn't. Another option to try is to change your message delivery options here on the Groups.io site. If you're set to receive individual emails and they're getting sent to spam, you might have better luck with one of the digest modes or a daily message summary. Please be advised that when you let someone or something else make these decisions for you, you may miss out on important information, and you might also be allowing your email service to unsubscribe you from messaging services. Thanks for reading this. |
Posting as Owner / Moderator
On a group for which I am a Moderator if I select "New Topic" I can post either in my own name or as the Group Owner.
However, if I wish to reply to a post in a thread? - even one I started as Group Owner - I do not seem to get that option; I can only post in my own name. Is this correct or have I overlooked something? Regards, Chris |

Re: I'm puzzled!!
The message you received containing the original email address was hyperlinked as a mailto. If so, when you subsequently edit this text to anything else, it will still "point to" the original address.?
You will have to do one of the following: -- Completely delete the link when you do the edit, so you don't make this mistake again, or -- Become accustomed to not "clicking on" the hyperlink and instead cut-and-paste the revised address, or -- Become more familiar with anchor tags. Hope this helps, Bruce |

This is what I emailed to [email protected] I am ready to transfer group. The first time it was done not all databases came over, FAQ database appears to be missing. I tried moving it over myself. and none of the links came over. I believe that is all that needs to be transferred. ?

Perfect Transfer!
So, everyone is posting their issues and problems and I thought it about time for some positive comments ... Our radio club's transfer went perfectly! All members, files, photos, and posts on Y!G came over without a hitch. I only had to re-enter the recurring events in the new calendar and we were up and operating. The few emails that bounced were chalked up to "bad or no longer existing". So, deleted those and waited for the those "few" to rejoin. They did ... No issues!
Thanks so much, Groups.io ... everyone in our 100+ person Club loves the new platform. Best regards, Dennis - WU6X SFARC Groups.io Moderator |
