Why don't you edit the invitation message to say this? Go to Admin, Preferences, Notices in the subgroup and create and save an invite

You'd have to ask the person who's address was changed.? They probably requested that a group admin change it for them, possibly not realizing that it would change for all groups they belong

Group members can change their own email address. And if the group member belongs to more than one group, it automatically changes the email address in other groups too. See the help message -
