Color of wiki links
#wiki
I am building wiki pages for my group. My first attempt at this. Some on the links on the wiki pages are blue and some are gray. I have visited all the pages so that doesn't seem to be the reason.?
Why the two different colors?? Thanks.? -- Sandi Dickenson Moderator of ASG Volunteers Group |
Re: Limiting Transferred Photo Resolution
I was asking about how the groups.io photo transfer process treats photos moved to groups.io. Are they moved at the resolution of the Yahoo Group photo or are they reduced to a lower resolution if, for example, the Max Size in Photos Section is set to a lower resolution, 1024 x 1024, for example.

That is, does the resolution limit in Settings set before transfer happens affect the size of transferred photos? Larry On 10/24/2019 6:45 PM, Susan B wrote:

Re: Limiting Transferred Photo Resolution
Are you sure of that? The Features | Photos | Max Size in Photos Section description reads, "Automatically resize photos uploaded to the photos section that are larger than a specific size."

That refers to photos uploaded; it does not say or imply "Transferred." I believe that setting works for new uploaded photos; I don't know it applies to the photos transferred from the Yahoo Group. Is anyone certain of the answer? Larry On 10/24/2019 6:17 PM, Duane wrote:

Re: Migrating the Yahoo stragglers
To make that work, you'd need to use an email integration on your group and use that as the address for Yahoo to send to.

Re: Group name taken, but not visible
Group names must follow the same form as a web address, it is the same.? For example?? dog_cat_bird would not be acceptable? however?? dog-cat-bird would be.? For example one of my sites, still waiting to be transferred is???? /g/CushmanGroup .? Look at the nomenclature.?? A similar name such as /g/Cushman_Group? would not work however a similar name of? /g/Cushman-Group? would work.? Underscore is not a permitted character in domain addresses while hyphen is.
Groups.io is the web site address while the user groups under that address's is the member accounts.? Basically we are sub-directories under the root directory for the domain name.? groups.io is how the internet finds their domain name.? The /g/ means the web direct sends the searches to the "g" directory and under that directory is the names of the groups registered here.? The site names of the users front pages. So the location of your forum name is in the same directory as our CushmanGroup name. There are some exceptions and that depends on how important you are.? Underscore can be used in some top level domain names.? EG |

Main group = Premium Yearly but all subgroups = Premium Monthly
#subgroups
#upgrade
A couple of days before the pricing changes were announced, I started the process of transferring my main group and several subgroups from Y!G to Groups.io. I upgraded my main group from Premium Monthly to Premium Yearly at the $110 rate then in effect. The transfer of the main group is proceeding as expected and its transfer status is "awaiting export from Yahoo." I also started the transfer process for each of the subgroups, but I have run into a glitch. For each subgroup, my invitation for [email protected] to join the corresponding Y! group has been accepted, and I have promoted the transfer agent to Moderator, but I can't get any farther than that. The Existing Transfers drop-down for the first subgroup says "needs you attention."? There is no green "Go" button on the Easy Yahoo Group Transfer Setup page. The gray box at the top of of the page says:
"We have accepted the invite to your group. Before we can transfer your group, you must upgrade it to the Premium Yearly option. Once you've done that, return here and you will be able to give the go ahead to transfer." When I click on the link to "upgrade it to the Premium Yearly option," it takes me to the plan page for the subgroup, and it says that my current plan is Premium Monthly. When I check the plan for the main group, it clearly displays it as Premium Yearly. All the subgroup plans display Premium Monthly, while the main group displays Premium Yearly. Until that is corrected the rest of my transfers are dead in the water. I posted a fairly detailed description of this problem about six hours ago to [email protected]. Understanding that the support group is not functioning normally at this point, I also posted the same message to the beta group (replying to the topic Migrate Groups to Subgroups) so that I could at least see that my post had gone through and possibly get some feedback from the other beta users. My message has not yet appeared in the beta group. Even though I joined the beta group over a year ago this is the first time I've actually tried to post a message so my "new member" messages are probably being moderated. Can anyone tell me if Mark is the only moderator for the beta group, in which case I may be out of luck. If there are other moderators, is there a way to ask one of them to approve my post? I have not yet sent this plea for help to [email protected] because, if Mark is the only Owner/Moderator, it would run into the same problem. Robert R. |
Re: Migrating the Yahoo stragglers
YG does still have tge add only to email function. I tried it with my smallest group.
It has not been added to the groups list at this point.? Add only to mailing list.
Add Members to your group's mailing list. Mailing list users cannot use the group web experience unless they link their email address to their Yahoo Account.
A Yahoo ID should not be necessary in this case. It may be that Yahoo computers will filter out the? email address and not add it to the mailing list. Will let you know IF and when this works. I sent a test message from my YG group email. It already arrived in my email but not on the Groups .io message board. So I forwarded the message to my Groups.io group and it worked just fine. So we can forward our messages if we do not get transferred by Oct 28.?? I have already asked my members not to send attachments or upload files or photosphotos to YG. They are being totally kept in the loop on what is happening here while they wait. They are saving them until after the transfer. But I told them we will do all communicating through the YG email until we are migrated. the new group is being moderated. I do not want to stop communication and they will only send messages if it is important. |
Re: I cant create a sub-group
Your root/core group has to be approved before you can create subgroups off of it

Weird Notification of messages to moderate
For second time today I didn't get the usual notification of message to moderate. Instead it came addressed to
[email protected] but just as an email. Not listed on our site as a pending message and so no way to approve or reject. |
