Re: Problem with the way Groups.io sends group messages
Glenn - No, the From field on emails is the actual poster's email address which will not be "[email protected]".? Peter's post comes in as:
From: Peter Rupprecht <perderkr@...> via groups.io?
Reply-to: [email protected]
To: [email protected] Sender: [email protected] Peter, As far as I know, that's the way groups.io works and best bet would be a filter to allow email with Sender: or To: = <groupname>@groups.io. Toby |

Problem with the way Groups.io sends group messages
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHello, Shal and anyone who knows,We just transferred in a large group and one of our members has indicated a concern with receiving group posts.? As he put it: ------------------------- ? ?, Just wanted to edit an older message (April) - but the "Format Bar" (which? ?I don't think it is age that makes the difference, I think it is plain-text versus formatted. And no, there's no way to add formatting when editing a plain-text message (neither when pending nor after posting). AOL e-mail and the Oath pledge and SPAM unsubscription
Very recently on several groups.io lists I moderate, I am seeing list members with aol.com e-mail addresses unsubscribed (groups.io e-mail flagged as spam by their e-mail provider), most immediately rejoin with the same?AOL e-mail address.?? ? About a month ago Oath?blocked e-mail?delivery to my aol e-mail account unless I took the OATH pledge to hold Oath blameless no matter what.??I took the Oath pledge and my e-mail delivery resumed. For those unfamiliar with Oath; it is a new company created after Verizon acquired Yahoo and AOL.? It's business plan is as a mobile media provider and to?date it has been unclear about plans of YahooGroups and the e-mail providers it acquired.? What has been clear recently is that Oath has gone from dormant to aggressive.? They certainly have the ability to identify Oath customers who have left Oath for lists on Google, Facebook, and groups.io? ?Of those three list host competitors, groups.io is definitely the weakest and most vulnerable.? And if your e-mail provider is now part of Oath or controlled by Oath and you haven't taken the Oath pledge; Oath's current action may seem like harassment. I fully understand those who won't take the Oath pledge, when as a list owner on YahooGroups, I refused; However delivery of my AOL e-mail was a different story and I surrendered.? If you do not want to take the Oath pledge, I recommend getting a non-Oath e-mail account and using that for your list membership on groups.io ? -- ken clark www.shastasprings.com |

Re: Need to add to and modify the footer of each message
Jim,
Can you tell me how to add to and modify the footer that is appendedThe first item in the Message Formatting section of your group's Settings page is a text box where you can enter a group-specific addition to the message footers. See here for examples of what it looks like. Approximately, the footers have been changed a bit this week, but the page hasn't yet been updated to match. /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Footers#Group-specific-addition-to-the-footer I would like to add a link to the files section for the group, theEnter the plain text URL of the links. I also some a comment in one of the messages this weekend that spokeSeems to be working fine on my messages, at least as I see them. We may need more detail on the circumstances to understand what's happening. Are you looking in the group's Messages section, or in your email interface? What email interface? Any special settings? I seem to recall that there may have been a bug with viewing formatted messages in plain text, but I thought that had been fixed. Re: Inviting Members
June,
I have sent out invitations to new members but when they respond to"Seem"? - you should be able to tell for certain: look at the Sent Invitations tab of your group's Invite page. Or look in the Member Activity tab of your group's Activity log or the Members list itself to see if they appear. I just tested replying to an invitation by email and it worked so there doesn't seem to be a general problem with the invitations. Both the From address and the Reply-To field of the invitation are set to the special address described by Bruce, so it should work correctly with just about any email interface's interpretation of "Reply". If the members who didn't get added to the group are still waiting you could ask them to CC you (at your personal email address) on their reply to the next invitation you send them. That would let you carefully check their reply for whatever error they (or their email interface) might be making. Or just advise them to use the link instead. How Long for Messages/Digests to stop Being Delivered After Someone Unsubscribes?
Simple question:? Does anyone know how long it takes for messages and/or digests to stop being sent to someone who has unsubscribed?? I know with Y!G, it could take up to 48 hours.? Is there a timeframe for message/digest stoppage on Groups.io? I looked in the Help section, but did not see anything on that page that answered this question.? Thanks!
