I see that a wiki can be publicly viewable, but I don't know to make photos publicly viewable . Could someone help me with the magic incantation for making photos publicly viewable?

I suspect that the message was sent to each member individually, as well as the group.? You can see the one that was sent to the group and rejected.? Groups.io has no control over the messages sent directly to members.

I also notice this morning that the name of your group has changed.? That may cause serious problems for members since you have subgroups.? Is it possible you have a rogue admin?

Thank you so much for trying to help me problem solve this Frances!? I am checking to see if the other moderator approved it but would be unlikely.? Also, there is nothing in the activity section to say that happened.

Stranger yet: You can stop any nonmember from sending a message to the group -
Look at Admin, Settings - Message Policies and untick this:
Allow Nonmembers to Post
Messages from nonmembers will be moderated instead of rejected. (This is already unticked.)

Unless it was a glitch, it sounds like someone approved the non-member message. Anyone with another explanation?

Here is what activity says: Non-member......(email address of person) attempted to send message "Parents Post" via email.?

It says attempted but it actually went through to all members and now I am getting some emails from my members.

It seems odd! Are you sure their email address isn't in your members' list in Admin? Did you look at Activity in Admin as well? ?

Here's the help on banning addresses -?/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/managing-members/banning-and-unbanning-members?single=true

You do it from the members' list in Admin. Tick the name and click on Actions. ?Choose ban. This works nicely when you are banning a member.

Can someone else tell Monica how to do it if the person isn't a member?

All my members received a nasty email from an outsider by simply writing to [email protected]?? How is this possible?? And is it possible to block that email address sending emails to all my members?

As far as I am concerned if there ever was such a feature it would have to be able to be turned off completely, I cannot conceive a use or need for such a thing personally

You would still have to clean up all the posts, eliminating old stuff and wrong answers, categorizing questions for different versions of a product or service, as the information on each forum would form the database for the AI chatbot, but if Groups.io could incorporate this feature, then questions could be answered by AI.

That would mean instant answers but does not rule out that the asker can still post their question.
Whether some groups would want this though is still open to debate bearing in mind that answers are provided free of charge by the community and the social spirit of forums, at least some where there is more consensus that hostility.

Re trying to use artificial intelligence, to mess about with posts that experienced members have written.......

My not so humble opinion, is -- don't!!!!? Utterly utterly don't!

I've moderated a number of groups where you have very experienced people, posting about whatever the topic/subject is, sometimes it's some uncommon medical condition, sometimes it's cat rescue, sometimes it's renaissance music, etc.?

And I have acquaintances from bygone tech college days, who have reported on their AI interactions --

AI makes things up.? And it can then be hard to differentiate, is that something true from an experienced entity?? or does that just sound good, is it just made up?

I think it will be a while before we get access to AI that isn't making things up.

A group with a lot of experienced people in it, is a resource and a treasure!? Good to NOT mess with that!? Gesine?

You are referring to the Cover Photo and you can update that via Admin > Settings > Cover Photo (button). You can also load an icon for use with the mobile view and Groups.io app. It's described in the Owner's Manual.

?Every week we put up a different Home Page picture. I've been checking around the links in the group for a place to put up a picture for a Group Logo picture that will always stay up. A small picture that will always be up on the Home Page.

?I would have been happy to never say anything however I was asked directly (since the upcoming vote next month will be very contoversial) if it is possible and felt I should answer honestly :/ Then I wanted to check here just in case I had overlooked or did not understand something myself. The general membership has not asked and probably would not care but we do have a specific executive group running the main group and that is where the question came up.

Our group has no problems with logging in to vote etc. Although it does take time to hand help sometimes when new members are added to the group so those new members understand how to navigate the groups.io in general. That only takes some time and patience on the part of the volunteers, but it is possible and is done whenever needed.

We?do set up a separate hashtag in the groups.io when votes come up for everyone which I think makes it easier for the general membership.

It just seems that a dedicated group site should have the ability for members in the group vote to be anonymous as a basic feature.

"Voting with your feet" seems like a glib response, but the old providers like AOL, Yahoo and Earthlink are giving many people many reasons to dislike them. Receiving desired email is the whole reason you signed up; if they refuse to deliver it, then they simply aren't holding up their end of the bargain.

I changed my email address last year, mainly because we physically moved outside of my previous provider's service area. After 30 years of using TDS, I had a lot of people to notify...not to mention a lot of online accounts that relied on that old address for verification. A handful of sites had no provision to deal with the change at all, and my only recourse was to start over and establish a new account altogether. I'm enjoying the benefits now, but the transition was definitely a hassle.

If AOL spam filtering was giving me that mush hassle, I'd change mail provider. There are plenty to choose from.
