The group setting changes two things:
  • the Reply-to: field in outgoing message headers (emails).
  • the default reply setting in the online message composition window?
Go to your group using the web interface and initiate a reply to an existing message. The buttons immediately below the message editor should look like the provided screenshot (i.e.: with a big blue "Reply to Sender" button at left). If it doesn't look like this, your group still isn't set up correctly.

Failing that, can you paste the message header into a message for us to review?

Am I missing something else?
Seems to work fine here, using both GMail and TDS webmail. However, it's been previously reported that some email clients do fail to honor this. Tell us what mail client you are using and maybe there's a setting that can be changed to make it follow the reply-to convention.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

There's a notice on the beta group, as well as the Help Center, that says, "Due to the current volume of support email, we can only answer messages sent from owners of Premium groups at this time."? If you don't have a premium group. I don't think it will get to support.? The beta group would be needed in that case.

N.B. My underlining above.

I suddenly realised that you started this topic on the same day that you posted on beta, although I have no idea of their respective posting times. Given the way that this latter point was resolved on beta would I be right in thinking that the assertion The emails do not appear on the message board or in the activity log was / is probably incorrect?

I suspect that these rogue messages were spam rather than scam, but that is a minor perhaps semantic point.

FWIW (attempted) group messages sent by non - members are also recorded in Activity as Non - member message. Where a group does not permit non - members to post they just sit there as a record; where a group does allow non - members to post they are forwarded for moderation in the usual way.

As an aside the group I moderate has had 24 spam attempts since the beginning of the month; it is also quite common to find attempted messages from members who have sent their contribution from a "wrong" (i.e. unregistered) email address.

Anyway in your case (as others have pointed out) the spam was being sent to the all - too - public "+owner" email address, and they will be in the Activity log if you search for them.

As owner how can I delete an old poll created by a member?

My sincere apologies to Mark Fletcher, having come from the Google Groups arena, I obviously had not paid close enough attention to where GIO actually came from.

Google has nothing to do with this and nobody from management watches this group. You'd need to make any suggestions on the beta group with a hashtag #suggestion.

Google has nothing to do with Groups.io, nor does GIO management monitor this group.? To be considered, suggestions need to be posted on the or sent to
[email protected]? For what it's worth, I made a very similar suggestion to Mark when he was considering the tier/pricing changes, but he settled on what's now available.? My interpretation is that he wants the groups that are using more resources to pay a fair share.

On your group they are.? You need to change the privacy setting if you don't want them available to non-members and search engines, /helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/customizing-group-settings/privacy-settings.

Would love to see a smaller tier like the one mentioned. I have a small Non-profit group of about 30 members and to use GIO more efficiently I need around 5 subgroups and 3-4 calendars. If I could get a tier like enhanced, I¡¯d probably fund it for the group myself.

Let¡¯s hope Google is listening!

I recently googled one of my articles published in a newspaper and was surprised to find that a reference that I had made to it in a closed ¨C supposedly private ¨C io group came up as one of the hits.? Are all group postings public?? If not, how could this happen?

As Duane said, you can post them to the files section directly.? If you look at the options on the +New button in the Files section will see that you can post videos to certain cloud storage services and just hold a link to that in the Files section.

You have been removed from [email protected]

I am new to GIO and am learning new things every day. I am hoping this group can help me with this issue.
?
I received a notification that a member had been unsubscribed because of suspected spam. I had no idea that was something that might happen. I went to find where the settings were for this, but could not find it in the manager manual or in the "Spam Control" section (though I might have missed it). I couldn't find anything. Then the member forwarded the message she got which was very helpful. (She asks if she is reinstated and she was so that part should be ignored. I also noticed that what looked like her email address was pretty funky "madelineps=[email protected]", but the message she sent to me was not marked as spam.)
?
Where is this feature buried in the details? Is there some way to adjust this setting? I would prefer that the message be flagged rather than unsubscribe them. But maybe GIO wants it gone and does not want it hanging around to do some malicious thing?
?
I apologize if this shows me as a rank amateur. Feel free to reply off list if this is a repetitive topic.

Thanks,

Hello,

You have been automatically removed from [email protected] because your Email Service Provider reported to us that message Durham Seeks Student Members for Cultural Advisory Board from [email protected] has been marked as spam.

We suggest that you check your spam folder as soon as possible to see if your Email Service Provider has diverted other legitimate messages into it.

You will receive no more emails from that group. If this was a mistake, you can resume your subscription within the next 7 days by clicking the following link:

Resume Subscription

Groups.io groups offer several options for controlling how much and what types of emails to receive. See this Help Center article for more information.

If this happens repeatedly please check with your Email Service Provider to learn about how they decide to send feedback reports to list services (such as Groups.io groups).

Re: Scam emails

Bruce,

Yes, Juno and Netzero (United Online) inserts ads at the bottom of each and every email sent out.? It was really bad a few years ago.? Today, the ads are now a news feed service called NEWSY.?

It's one reason I ONLY respond to my group by logging in to GIO and NOT replying via email to the group.

No, but they could be uploaded into the Files section.? I don't allow it on any of my groups because even a "short" video file can take a relatively large amount of space.? I've told the members to host them elsewhere and post links.
