Re: Yahoo member migration if "No Email" status

where is this setting?Susan -- In groups.io, it is in the Message Policies block of Settings. I have "no email" disabled for all my groups. You can try to notify them by collecting all the "no email" people and contacting them directly (i.e.: outside of Y!G). In practice, I think you'll find that most of those accounts are deadwood and emails will begin to bounce as soon as you start sending them anything. New Group Questions: Migration Questions
#yahoo
We are going to start using your premium service - moving from yahoo ASAP. Quick question (LOVE YOUR PRODUCT!):
---- Can you start the group without having the Yahoo content pulled over? (we still need to put our request into you)
---- Will there be an interruption with the group usage while the content is being migrated over?
---- Is the timing of our GROUP starting dependent on the migration? Trying to ask it 10 different ways so that I am clear on how to communicate with our community :) |

How can you upgrade for a month? Is there a pro-rata payment, or do weIf you go to Admin>Upgrade and click the "View/Change Plan" button, there are options for Premium Yearly or Premium Monthly. You might find a month of Premium handy if you want to Direct Add subscribers to your group without going through the invitation process. It is also a lot cheaper ($10 vs $110). However, if you want groups.io to attempt to move your message archive, files and photos and so on (in addition to your subscribers), you have to pay the $110. This payment also allows you to re-try the transfer later if some content doesn't make it over, due to ongoing Yahoo server issues. The money has to be paid up-front and there are no refunds. Hope this helps, Bruce |

Short of subscribing myself with my work email and then going no mail with my personal one, is there any way to have two emails associated with one account where you can choose which one to use for any one list? No. Nor can you be logged in under more than one email address using the same device/browser. However, you can subscribe both addresses to the same group and set one of them to No Email. That might be your best option. Hope this helps, Bruce |

Re: Goodbye Yahoo Groups
Perhaps look at using sub-groups, I keep all my groups under my main one and it looks like you can do a Yahoo Groups transfer in to a subgroup.
?
I pay monthly for the main group and it seems to translate through to my subs (I could be wrong).

Owner/Moderator with 2 Email addresses
My account with groups.io is with this email address, which is my personal address.? I am now creating all the groups we need to switch to groups.io - there are 23 of them - they need to be with my work email address.? Short of subscribing myself with my work email and then going no mail with my personal one, is there any way to have two emails associated with one account where you can choose which one to use for any one list?

Uploading Stuff to GIO (was: How to Effect a Transfer)

One file at a time or in folders? You can upload an entire directory structure of files to groups.io (including the recursive uploading of subfolders) using the "Upload Directory" function. It is, however, not very intuitive. See?/g/GroupManagersForum/topic/34328513#18960?for details. Has anyone successfully used PG Offline for this function?I cannot speak to that. To clarify, I have only small groups with picture and file storage well under the 1 GB free limit. With only about 100 members in each group, I will just send invitations to join the new groups.io group using the membership list I exported from the Yahoo Group.Make sure what you upload is a flat text file, with one email address per line. No intervening commas, no CSV or Excel files. Alternatively, you can just cut-and-paste them into the invitation box. Send the invitations?all at once. You will get a message back saying you've reached the limit of invitations per day. Do not get upset about this. Just wait awhile, and all the invitations you sent will go out. These are important issues for owners with only small groups. Please try to answer fully as I expect there is wide interest.Fair enough. In turn, please understand that the heavy influx of new groups is rapidly becoming stressful for everyone. We are not responsible for what Yahoo Groups has done, and are doing our best to accommodate. Regards, Bruce |

Re: new to groups.io
Rhoda,
If you invite them, then no further approval is needed. Except if your group is unmoderated, you have to select something in Spam Control.
