If there was a bug, Mark has already fixed it. It works properly here,

If I edit a message and click on one of several attachments and then select either "Save and Send to Group" or "Save Without Sending", then only that one attachment is deleted.

Of course, clicking on the Red "Delete" button does delete all attachments as well as the entire message. There is a confirmation message, but it could easily be overlooked as it would seem natural to select an item of many to delete and then click the Delete button to do it and only glance at the expected warning without fully reading it.

That Red button really isn't even necessary here and perhaps should be removed, as if one wanted to delete the message, that would have been done by clicking on "Delete message" rather than "Edit message".

Shal,

I got an email from support telling me they fixed the problem. The picture that was attached or embedded to the post, can now also be found in Emailed Photos like it should be.

Groups.io site updates #changelog

Hi all,

This week's change log:

Feel free to reply to this topic if you'd like to comment on the
changes. Or better yet, if you expect a lot of discussion start a new
topic (or rejoin an existing one) about a specific change.

INTERNAL: Work on adding the ability for group owners to charge
subscriptions to groups.
In a follow-up message on @beta Mark clarified that it will be a few more weeks before this rolls out. He's hoping to have a description next week sometime for people to review and give feedback.

This will be an interesting one to watch. Maybe useful for my PTA group. (Can I use it to collect unit dues? We'll see.) Also I wonder if he's thinking about "buy me a beer" level of informal voluntary donations as well as required fees.

CHANGE: Members now have 7 days instead of 3 days to auto-resubscribe
after having been removed because of spam reports.
Duane reported this one in GMF when first announced. Hopefully it helps.

Comments about these others are also welcome:

BUGFIX: In some instances emailed images were not appearing in the
Emailed Photos folder. Also reindexed the message archive.
CHANGE: When converting inline images into attachments, verify that a
valid media type is specified before doing the conversion.
INTERNAL: Fixed SSL certificate renew mechanism.
NEW: New activity log messages for when a member sends a message with
a new tag (in a group where new tags are restricted), a message with
a tag only moderators can use, and a message without any tags (where
tags are required).
BUGFIX: For groups with attachments moderated, the add photo/add
attachment buttons were not being displayed in the HTML editor.
CHANGE: Improved file search to allow for partial name matches.
BUGFIX: It was possible to ban a non-valid email address.

Please call out any you find significant.

Re: Editing an attachment

Ilene,

However, if the graphics were all attached and I ticked the copyright
graphic to delete it from the attached graphics that are shown, all of
the attachments in that email are deleted as well even though they
weren't marked to delete.
That sounds like a bug. If you haven't already you should probably report this to [email protected] and cite the group name and message number where this occurred.

No, it's not currently possible.? There are a couple of topics that you might want to look at for ideas:

Editing an attachment

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I just noticed that when I need to edit a members email for copyright infringement it works fine when I delete an embedded graphic that was in the email. The other graphics stay in the email and just the one I deleted is removed and then sent to the group.
?
However, if the graphics were all attached and I ticked the copyright graphic to delete it from the attached graphics that are shown, all of the attachments in that email are deleted as well even though they weren't marked to delete.

Re: Mysterious delivery failure reason

MX lookup returned: lookup mpeks.tomsk.su on 173.230.155.5:53: server misbehaving
The :53 means that the error was during a NS lookup. The domain mpeks.tomsk.su currently has no NS records:

~ $ dig mpeks.tomsk.su ns
;; Got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 7063
;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 0, AUTHORITY: 1, ADDITIONAL: 1

The "ANSWER: 0" means zero NS records. It's not normal, it confuses groups.io software. Consider email addresses @ mpeks.tomsk.su currently invalid, misconfigured. A NS check tool finds multiple errors:

Coincidentally, the mail admin with an address @ mpeks.tomsk.su yesterday posted to the Russian-language mailing list for users of mail server software "Exim" I participate in:

I'll notify him.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Thank you, Shal & Bruce. ?

The only email I remember receiving was one that said, "?Yahoo Groups has been very unreliable lately. We will do our very best, but there is a good chance that we may not be able to transfer all of your messages, photos or files. We will tell you which ones we were not able to transfer. Also, the migration queue is several days long at this point. Please be patient as we work through the backlog of tranfer requests.¡± ?

I never saw an email that said anything about being unable to transfer my files and photos, even after checking Spam and Trash. ?But I did notice that the photos in my Yahoo group come to just over 1 GB, so I will delete some of?the?unnecessary photos to bring the storage?size down. ?Perhaps that will help. ?I¡¯ll give it a few more days, and if nothing happens, I'll contact Support is you have suggested.

Thanks again,

Re: Subscribing with plus addressing

Charlie,

Someone with a Gmail address has sent a subscription request using IMAP's "plus addressing."?

That's not specifically an IMAP feature, it is a Gmail feature. That is, it works just as well through Gmail's web interface as through an IMAP client application.
My question is: Does anyone have experience with this sort of thing?? Does Gio treat a plus address in any special way or just ignore it like an ordinary non-plus address?
?
I don't have personal experience using that Gmail feature, but there are a couple of GMF members with Gmail addresses of that format. Both have posted here without any comment about trouble sending or receiving messages.

Re: Mysterious delivery failure reason

Yes, that does look odd and it could be a misbehaving dns server.? Be nice if you would post the resolution from support on this.
The MS lookup is:
> set type=mx
> mpeks.tomsk.su
Server:? google-public-dns-a.google.com
Address:? 8.8.8.8
?
Non-authoritative answer:
mpeks.tomsk.su? MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = admin.sibptus.ru

The IP address of the mail server is:
> set type=a
> admin.sibptus.ru
Server:? google-public-dns-a.google.com
Address:? 8.8.8.8
?
Non-authoritative answer:
Name:? ? admin.sibptus.ru
Address:? 95.179.154.55
So the lookup works on google dns servers at the present time.

Re: Easy group transfer

Bill,

I unchecked the box that Bruce mentioned and am sending invitations from io
The transfer took just a couple days.

The box Bruce mentioned would only prevent sending the You've been added notices to your Y!Group members as their addresses were copied.

Did you also uncheck the Transfer Members box? If you left it checked then your Y!Group members have already been copied into your Groups.io group, and you've no need to Invite them (using the Groups.io Invite feature). If they're now in the Groups.io group you can notify them by sending a Special Notice from the Groups.io group.

Looks to my as if a nameserver somewhere along the line could not resolve the provided domain into an IP address.

Google cannot find it either. I'm surprised that this tld is still being used. Try tomsk.ru instead.

Hope this helps,

Re: Mysterious delivery failure reason

Dave,

? ?MX lookup returned: lookup on : server misbehaving

"Misbehaving" is not very descriptive. Does anyone know what this is really
indicating?

For a usual rejection case That text (and the three-digit code that should have preceded it) would have been issued by the member's email service during the connection from Groups.io. So most likely that service would have to be asked what it means.

But in particular, port 53 in that IP address suggests that the receiving service mistook Groups.io as its DNS service provider, and attempted to look up that domain there. That's one seriously confused receiver.

Also, I can't find any link between the user's domain name and the IP address
173.230.155.5. A reverse lookup on the address returns

? ?.

Is this somehow associated with itself?

Yes, Linode is a commercial service hosting Groups.io's web and mail servers.
(I have sent substantially the same message to <[email protected]>. But maybe
someone here has seen this before and has some suggestions.)
?
Good. Groups.io will want to make sure that its servers have the correct DNS entries in place. Or that there wasn't a glitch in the transaction with the receiver's service.

But most likely this is not a Groups.io problem. It sounds like the recipient's server is rather confused about how to authenticate the message.

Mysterious delivery failure reason

SBL webmaster

Hi --

I have a user who hasn't been receiving messages from our group for the past
several days, following a slight mix-up in his ISP account billing.

On the website, under his "Email Delivery History", it gives the reason the
most recent delivery attempt failed as:

MX lookup returned: lookup mpeks.tomsk.su on 173.230.155.5:53: server misbehaving

"Misbehaving" is not very descriptive. Does anyone know what this is really
indicating?

Also, I can't find any link between the user's domain name and the IP address
173.230.155.5. A reverse lookup on the address returns

resolver05.fremont.linode.com.

Is this somehow associated with groups.io itself?

(I have sent substantially the same message to <[email protected]>. But maybe
someone here has seen this before and has some suggestions.)

Does this too have be an invitation?

Is there any literature on any of this material anywhere so I don't have to bother anyone unless I can't understand what I have read.? If there is, can you point me in that direction.??

We will be using Chat and Polls very soon so I want to be prepared for those when then come up.
