I have now unthought that; I have included a link to it. (Don't go looking for it yet as it's still very much in nth draft, where n is an increasingly large integer.)

Emails held for monitoring.

Recently I sent an email that was held for monitoring. I resent it and saw it go through without monitoring. How can I debug something that's inconsistent? Subsequent emails were sometimes going through and sometimes were held for monitoring. Someone suggested that the problem might be with showing my phone number in my signature. I removed the phone number and haven't had an email held for monitoring since. Can anyone shed light on this issue?

I'm relieved that it's not just me then! On reflection this wiki section will really need to be read as a complete document anyway, in which case a ToC might be a distraction. A neat post - facto rationalisation of why I have given up on that route...

And (FWIW) the dog walk was devoid of inspiration, enlightenment, visions, visitations and other phenomena. Probably just as well, really. One or two ideas to follow up, though.

This should be sent to support.

[mod note: but not if the In Process page answers the question]

It sometimes takes awhile for the transfer agent to accept your invitation. It is the longest step in the process.

Go to the transfer page at?/yahootransfer?
Scroll to the bottom and select your group S51A from the In Process menu.
On the resulting page, look for a grey box at the top. It should say something like "We have received your invitation and will accept it soon. There is no need to send another invite."

If it says that, you are all set, all you can do is wait. If it doesn't say that, then it seems that Yahoo is continuing to have problems with their invitation system.

Hope this helps,
Bruce?

Thanks for the explanation, Bruce. I have made my member list available to my members now. So now I will explain to all of them the difference.

Almost a case of curiouser and curiouser...

If I make the section titles in h1 then the ToC works as one would want. The (serious) downside is that the font size is such that it feels as though one's eyeballs are being attacked with a lump hammer; it's far, far worse than an email written IN CAPITALS!

I then tried h3 section titles, and set the page name at the top to be h1 and then added another line after it in h2; this should have satified the requirement to have "lower" header sizes prior to those selected for the ToC. Once again the finished ToC was a mess, and for some reason included the h1 & h2 sizes as well as the specified maximum of h3. Even having h2 titles under the h1 page name failed as well.

Either I am doing something silly (a possibility that cannot be discounted!) or the ToC formatting is completely awry.

I think I will ditch the idea of any ToC or linked Index at the top (I don't know how to do one of them either) rather than hold up the production of the wiki page; after all it's the substance of it that matters rather than having a ToC at the top.

Perhaps walking the dog shortly will provide further inspiration and enlightenment...

Chris

Problems with adding the [email protected] to my Yahoo group #transfer - S51A #transfer

Hello!

I invited more then 10 times in the last 2 months the email [email protected] to our yahoo group S51A@....
The other groups that we have could transfer without any problems. But here we never got the [email protected] to join our group.

So i'm stuck now, where is the problem ?

Thank you very much!

Shal; thanks very much for the tip; I'll put it to the test later today and report back.

FWIW the draft wiki is rather more than a non - working ToC!

Re: Formatting ToC

Chris,

The ToC (still very much a work in progress) ends up looking like
this:
I've run into this symptom before. I believe it has to do with not using the Header Levels correctly. If you have a Header 4 you need to have a Header 1, Header 2, and Header 3 before it.

That's what I've gotten from the ToC widget, too. Unaware of any way of customising or controlling it.

Re: Reply to auto message on unsubscribing is unseen #bug #groupowner #messages

Thank you, Lena. I don't think I have looked that far down the subscription page since I set up the group. I haven't tested yet but have changed from the default setting "Subscribers only" to all email.

I am bothered that the reply has gone into a black hole. Neither sender nor owner gets any indication of that. And the settings are about emails being delivered to the owner and silent about there being no archive of them. I'll bet they are still in the system, just inaccessible from the owner's interface.

Feel free to incorporate/fold/spindle/mutilate my page in any way you see fit.

I can't help you with your TOC problem, though. When it comes to that kind of thing, I use the raw html editor.

That reply was from a non-subscriber.
At the bottom of your Subscription page switch Owner Email to All Emails.

The Directory is a list of member profiles. As such, a Subscriber will appear in the Directory only?if:

-- (s)he creates a Profile and chooses to share it, or,
-- the person viewing the Directory has Owner (or perhaps Moderator, haven't tested that) privileges.?

If you want Subscribers to be able to see every other Subscriber in the group without forcing them to jump through the profile hoop, you must make the Members List visible.

Formatting ToC

I am making some progress with a wiki for Managing attachments, files & photos but am struggling getting the ToC right. (For the record I am doing it elsewhere, so don't go looking for it at the moment!)

The ToC (still very much a work in progress) ends up looking like this:

and nothing I try makes it come right. :(? I cannot get rid of the numbers or get the justification right. (Or should that be "left"?)

The guidance of "someone who knows" would be more than greatly appreciated.

Reply to auto message on unsubscribing is unseen #bug #groupowner #messages

Edited

I set up an automatic message to be sent to a subscriber on unsubscribing. It's a questionnaire so I expected a response now and then but none have appeared. So I set up another account, subscribed and unsubscribed. The new account received the auto-message instantly. I replied. There is no sign of the reply being forwarded to my Owner's email address.?

Here is the reply address from the auto-message:?"[email protected] Group Moderators" <[email protected]>

Where did it end up?

Tom

Re: Is this a bug or normalcy?

Okay, first of all I don't feel like a screen shot as necessary. Anybody can run the steps. I just asked if it was weird her normalcy. Which is why I titled the subject the way I did. Here is the instructions to follow which I guess I should've provided in my original email. Go to your members list select the member that you want to message. My clicking the checkbox and then clicking the actions button and clicking send message. Then once you click send message type your message, then hit send to group. Dan go to your email. Look at your email and find the message that was sent to your email because you hadn't also selected the BCC moderators. Below that message, that you sent to the member, plus BC seeing yourself had put the group footer below it. Now, is this normal behavior from the owners address or it not normal. I don't recall this happening before any time I've used the owners email to send out a message to a member.

Was the user in "not confirmed" status? If the NC status badge is missing, then the subscriber has already confirmed his email address.

I wish there was a way to resend the groups.io confirmation email, similar to the way bounce probes can be resent.

Well within doing so, I also CCB moderators as well. And whenever I did that, it also put the group footer below my message. So it looked as if I was sending it to the group. Is this normal, or is this possibly a glitch that needs to re-reported to support.
There have been many recent changes to message footers so it's entirely possible that something weird may have slipped through the cracks. Can you send us a screenshot of this footer?
