If we upgrade to premium will the cost be based on just the main group members? It only counts members of the main group.? And that number is what shows on the group home page.? It doesn't count Bouncing (blue B), Bounced (red B), or Not Confirmed (NC) members.

I doubt that they count the same email address twice, both as main group and subgroup members. Check your group homepage to see how many members you have. I think that is the figure that counts.?
Here's the pricing page - /static/pricing
Note that there is a minimum of $20 per month.

Question on Pricing - how are members counted?
We're currently on the basic, free account and considering upgrading.??
?
Our main group has about 300 members.? We have 7 subgroups which have 5 to 225 members in each subgroup.? These subgroup members are all in the main group of 300.? If we upgrade to premium will the cost be based on just the main group members?? Or on the members in the main group and all the subgroups even if there are many duplicate names???
?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give! |
Re: Upgrading questions
We prefer to keep all the data on our group.? It makes it easily accessible to all our members and it's easier to find what we need.? Also, most of our volunteers are not very techy (me included) and adding in something new for them to learn will be difficult.??
?
Thanks for all the helpful links!?
?
And we'll consider the sponsorship and donation options.?? |

Yes, it is absolutely possible, after all if you think about it, that's what you had before the merge. That's also what a lot of us do, for group owners it's best practice to have multiple accounts for various purposes, for example testing to see how something looks to a regular member, or have group ownership backup in case something happens with the main address and we cannot access it. An individual can have as many accounts (i.e. email addresses) registered on Groups.io, you're just limited into only being able to be logged-in with a single account at a time (within the same browser session you're currently using but there are easy workarounds, one is to use different browsers, another is to use add-ins like Container tabs so you can use them within the same browser) So if your aim is to "undo" that merge so you can use the old account for backup or let's assume you want to re-associate it so it only shows only the groups you are a regular member of, and set your current existing encompass-all groups account to only show the groups you own or moderate, since the old account you merged from doesn't exist anymore in the Groups.io system, all you'd need to do is log-out of your current account (or alternatively open a different browser) and go to /register and use your old account address to create the new account, then associate it with the groups you want it to belong to. Same process with creating a brand new account, log out if logged-in and go to the register page above and repeat the process. Cheers, Christos |
Establish different owner email address for 2 owned groups
Hello,
?
I'm relatively new to groups.io but and I'm already owner of 2 different sites, and a member of? 4 other sites.
?
I recently started growing one of the new sites, and saw that my email address associated with it was not what I wanted to be so I instituted a change, which merged the sites and now all the groups I belong to or manage all reflect the same email address for me.
?
I would like to have 2 distinctly different email addresses for me associated with the 2 sites I am the owner of.? Is this possible, and if so how would I implement that?
?
Thanks!

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI have the same problem. I think it started yesterday. I can send and receive messages from the group, but cannot log in. The email address is correct - I checked it with incoming messages.? When I click on Log In, it says " That email address does not have a groups.io account.." I clicked on Email me a link to log in, and again it says That email address does not have a Groups.io account The email address bar is highlighted, waiting for me to type a different address. Can anyone help me, too?

Do you know what your owner email address is for your group?
Check the footer of recent email messages from your group.

If you find your proper email address, but don't have a password, use Email Me A Link To Log In.
Log out of your group and then open a new window in your browser.
I find it easier to use a second browser for this. (My main one is Safari. I also have Firefox and so I use that.)

On your billing page, it tells you exactly what legacy features you would retain if you went back to a free group. From: "Bruce Bowman via groups.io" <bowman46118@...>

I have no actual experience with this, though. It would seem so from this owner's manual excerpt: /newhelpcenter/manual/ownersmanual/groupprocedures/group_downgrading.htm if you downgrade a Premium group to a Free group: The storage space allocation goes from 30 GB to 1 GB. Any subgroups are locked. Exception: If your group was created before January 15, 2020, subgroups will remain accessible because Free groups created before that date were able to have subgroups. (This exception applies to Free groups created before January 15, 2020 that were upgraded either before or after that date as well as to Premium groups created before that date.) All features become unavailable except those related to sending and managing messages. However, nothing is deleted in case you decide to upgrade again in the future. Exception: If your group was created before August 24, 2020, the downgraded Free group will retain the calendar, chat, database, member directory, files, photos, poll, and wiki features. If the group was created after February 8, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. U.S. Pacific Time and gained more than 100 members, no one else can join the group unless the member list is reduced to fewer than 100 members or the group is upgraded again. =================================== Donald ---------------------------------------------------- Some ham radio groups you may be interested in: /g/ICOM /g/Ham-Antennas /g/HamRadioHelp /g/Baofeng /g/CHIRP |

Go to your group's home page at https://plasticfreightcarbuiilders.groups.io/g/PlasticFreightCarBuiilders. See the "Sponsor This Group" button? Click that. Enter your sponsorship amount ($85). Then click "Pay With Credit Card." Enter your credit card information (number, CVC, zip code, expiry date). Then you should be good to go.
?
You do not have to register the card with groups.io, use PayPal, or set up a Stripe account. You do of course have to enter credit card information, but that is only to complete the sponsorship transaction and is not stored anywhere.
?
If you *do* have a credit card on file, sponsorship funds will be charged immediately upon clicking "Pay with Credit Card." I didn't realize this, and accidentally did it...twice. So you now only owe $75. You're welcome. :-)

If at some point we can't continue to afford the fees, will we be able to easily downgrade to basic again?Simply not paying on the date of renewal will automatically downgrade you back to Basic (after one-month grace period, if I recall correctly).
