How to list your moderators or co-owners?
I need to do some maintenance in my IO groups and want to see who are
moderators/co-owners. I don't see a link or tab for that but it must be there and I'm just overlooking it. Donald Join the Icom group, a general Icom discussion group on Groups.io: /g/ICOM (just launched) |

Re: How to make sure the previous post replied to appears beneath my post
While we're at it, you might want to take a look at this thread, regarding how much of the quoted text is actually passed thru with the various subscription options.
/g/GroupManagersForum/topic/20297281#8787 I think the key message here is that everyone has their own preferences, and enforcing quoting rules by software is probably not an achievable goal. As for me, the Yahoo approach where the entire message was always appended was a palpable annoyance, particularly in a digest. ? Regards, Bruce -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |

How to make sure the previous post replied to appears beneath my post
Hi,
I am co-owner of a group, and my problem is this: When I receive group messages in my personal mailbox, they automatically come with the message replied to beneath them. Mine do not. When I read group messages at the site, I find that only a few members have the previous message they are automatically appearing after their post. The rest show as a stand alone post. We all want to the message we are replying to attached to our post. What can we do? Many thanks Sylvia |

They all need to be requested from their email that they receive.
If I wanted this to be a message board - I would reopen my proboards forum LOL
?
But thanks, I will make it a suggestion. It would be a good idea to have something where only the Mods and Owners could have access to. Reopening this thread based on our brief discussion in beta. Here is my proposed work-around, in hopes that it might help you. Keep track of what you're doing so you can undo it later if necessary. Go to Admin>Settings.? Under Message Policies, click on the checkbox that says "Hashtags Required." Pull down the Hashtag Permissions and select "Posts by subscribers can only be tagged with existing hashtags, otherwise the message is bounced." Click Update Group Now click on Hashtags from the left menu bar and click on the Create Hashtag button. Name the hashtag anything you want, starting with a pound sign (#) Select the "Locked" checkbox. Click on the Create Hashtag button again. Now your group has one hashtag, and it is required. It will lock the topic immediately upon posting. What you have to do now is train your subscribers to use it every time. They have to place it in the subject line of every message, preceded with the pound sign (#). Notice how I placed the hashtag #Ilene on this message. If they don't do that with your new hashtag, their message will be sent back for revision until they add it. This is not the same as a message delivery bounce.? On the whole, this may end up being more of a nuisance than your current problem of having to manually lock topics yourself. Only you can decide. Hope this helps, Bruce? -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help ? |

Re: 'Member' button absent
Marilyn:
I belong to four groups and the others have a 'Members' button but the one I am supposed to be the Moderator for does not. ?????? Have you clicked on Admin?? As a moderator, you may find Members listed as one of the Admin drop-down options.? If it still isn't there, then as Duane says, the group Owner may not have given the Moderators permission to view the Member list.? The Members Visible options are "Subscribers / All Owners, and all Moderators with correct permissions / Owners Only".? Dotty |

From: Motti TadmorI have done this by forwarding the relevant individual messages to the new list when it gets set up. The body of the message includes the original dates, etc. I would keep the old list active until the new one is set up, then close the old list to new messages. Re: muting messages
Al,
... still don¡¯t understand why choosing mute for a given messageAnother place to check is the Messages section of the group in question. Change to "Topics" - if the message you received more recently isn't grouped with the message that you muted then somehow it wasn't considered to be the same topic - and that would prevent your Mute of that topic from blocking the newer message. Why it didn't fall into the same topic would then be its own mystery to resolve. Re: I messed things up, how do I fix it?
You may just need to wait a bit.? Sometimes changes like that take some time to propagate through the system.? If it isn't working in an hour or so, I'd report it to [email protected]
BTW, when you change the name, you may also want to change the Subject Tag in the Message Formatting area. Duane -- Help: /static/help GMF's Wiki: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Search button at the top of Messages list A few site FAQs: /static/pricing#frequently-asked-questions |

Re: 'Member' button absent
If your Moderator permissions don't allow it, you won't see it.? The group owner can allow or restrict many things for moderators.

I mute a lot of messages/threads on some lists simply due to having no relevance and/or interest to me. Seems fine for the day, but next day if thread persists, seems like I get the messages again. Is the mute function time limited? There is an extensive help section of Muting and Following at?/static/help#muting? The behavior you describe, however, is peculiar. Hashtag muting does have a duration, but not topic muting. Could it be that the subsequent messages were posted to a different group/subgroup? Also keep in mind that muting affects email delivery only. All messages will still appear in the online message archive. Hope this helps, Bruce? -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |
