Re: Chats vs Messages
Ahhaaa, that's an important distinction that isn't immediately obvious (yes I've been around a really long time and know how chat works)- it's just that there wasn't any kind of operational feedback

Bruce, If it DOESN'T work, then I can make no sense of that configuration setting. The purpose of that setting is to decide what to do with an incoming message that would put the group over quota. The

Re: how to copy fotos from Yahoo Group to my server
In theory, it's that easy. In practice, a lot of the time Yahoo gave me an http 500 server error instead of the photo. Glad to be outta there! Bruce

I thought the entire point of that setting was to allow for unattended purging of the attachments queue. Perhaps an example will help... -- You are on the free program, meaning you have 1 GB of

J, I don't know, but then my exposure to social media sites and their features is very limited. If you limit your scope to things that are called DMs or PMs it may seem rare, but side conversations

Bill, It is actually posted to the group as a message. So in that sense the word "Notice" on that checkbox is misused, it should say "post a message" or something more like that. In my classmate

The OP may have requested and meant this, but Shal, do you know of any other situation where "DM" is not synonymous with "PM" - or, to put it in the terms above, where moderators have and can access

Re: messages between individuals
Deb, What kind of record are you imagining? One thing would be to have an entry in the group's activity log that gives the basic metadata of the message: who and when, and maybe the Subject line.

Duane, markus, That pesky word "private" again. Note that Deb, the OP, asked for an on-site means to _direct_ message from member to member - privacy was not mentioned, and in her follow up she said
