At this time there are only 11 options.

If you are seeing lock topics menu, etc. perhaps you are using the down arrow below a message.
?
Or perhaps you are have set a lock topic time in Admin.?
?
To reply from your email, just click on reply as you usually do. Just be sure to use the right email address to send it from.
Or go online, open messages and then open the message you want to reply to.

Here's help - replying by email: ?/helpcenter/manual/membersmanual/topicsmsgs/msgs_via_email.htm

Re: Owner can't reply to messages
I do not understand Duane's suggestion, to log out as admin and log in as member.?? I administer my groups with the same address I use as a member to send messages? OR handle other people's messages, the same login on the website, the same address in my email. On Mon, Apr 7, 2025 at 3:44?PM Duane via <txpigeon=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Opting OUT of a new Subgroup - can it be done?
One of my groups does this all the time. The message sent to the main group announcing the subgroup contains a link to the subgroup where all they have to do is click on Join This Group. I am not sure how the link is set up, but I think it is just to the home page of the subgroup.

Re: Opting OUT of a new Subgroup - can it be done?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDan,If I interpreted your message correctly, I think the reason you're having problems with this is that you think the users have to opt out of the subgroup, they don't (normally). They have to opt-in, unless if you already manually added all users to the subgroup already after you created it, which -if so- is not the best way of doing this for a general-use subgroup; for a specific-use subgroup like let's say board-of-directors, then yes, you would manually add the necessary folk from the main group, but for general-use subgroups, it's best to create it, set it up as needed, then let the group know about it and let whoever wants to join it. Anyway, since you want to send an invitation I presume you have not added them manually already, in which case, think of it as sending invitations from a any regular group. Cheers, Christos |

Why don't you edit the invitation message to say this?
Go to Admin, Preferences, Notices in the subgroup and create and save an invite notice.
Then go to Members in the subgroup, Invite. Use the new notice.
You will have to add a list of all the people you want to invite.?
?
Or you could do a welcome message perhaps. Same type of message - if you aren't interested, don't join.
Frankly, never tried inviting to a subgroup so others may have a better idea. ?

Opting OUT of a new Subgroup - can it be done?
I'm flummoxed with this one. I want to find a way to be able to create a new Subgroup and send the Invite to all members of the Group. But I want to make it clear and easy for anyone NOT INTERESTED in the subject of the new Subgroup to Opt Out of it.
?
If I understand the process and flow properly, any New Topic/message/reply sent From a Subgroup topic/message will go to all Subgroup members. Non-Subgroup members will not even know that the message existed unless they go into the Subgroup and read/reply to it.
?
I haven't found anything in the Owners Manual, or Member's Manual, or GMF that seems to address this, though I think I saw something alluding to it a while back.
?
Simple outline:
New Subgroup - Cruising and Vacations (themed to share specifics on? these subjects) with an Invitation Sent to All Members of the Group.
Note/disclaimer in the first paragraph - "If you are NOT INTERESTED in further emails on this subject you can OPT OUT of this Subgroup by (fill in with the instructions); you will then NOT receive any further messages on this subject. If you would like to share your, and other's experiences on these subjects then Reply to/Contribute to this Subgroup messages. If you would like to (re)join this Subgroup at a later time, you may do so easily."
Further explanation for those who do not have any Subgroup knowledge or experience - "This Subgroup is intended to put like-minded and interested members in contact with others who think and do things of this nature. The idea is to share good and bad experiences, information and knowledge on the subject, and ideas."
Then I would add in a 'first shot' detailing some of the experiences of a cruise we just returned from.
?
I've actually already created the Subgroup, I just want to let the Group know about it. And, specifically, knowing (some of) the Group's tendencies to resist MORE emails for any reason, I want to make it CLEAR that there is an immediate and complete way OUT right now.
?
Thanks for your brain power in hoping to find an answer. |

Re: change made from outside of group?
IIRC, it¡¯s controlled mainly by the user, who change their email address set up aliases, etc. I also know groups.io isn¡¯t happy with multiple user¡¯s & emails in different browsers. It¡¯s happiest with a single login, multiple groups and possibly usernames.
I have a drop-down for selecting the active group.

Group members can change their own email address. And if the group member belongs to more than one group, it automatically changes the email address in other groups too.
See the help message - /helpcenter/single/accounts/accounts_email_changing.htm
?
The Help page points out that the member can create a new account if they don't want all groups to be changed.

change made from outside of group?
As moderator, I received the following email message earlier today from groups.io (with an actual name and addresses, of course). I looked through the activity log and it displays the same information. How do I find out who from what group actually made this change??

This should send the poll again...or at least it does here. Please note that no one can vote without logging in first.

Duane, it¡¯s interesting that one (only admins?) can also delete someone else¡¯s messages and not just one¡¯s own as implied by the instructions to members. However, do you know whether it deletes the message entirely from the chat room or only at your end? For instance, in Facebook I often delete posts I don¡¯t want anything to do with but it doesn¡¯t delete the posts for anyone else. I¡¯m just wondering.
