I, too, am running Thunderbird (52.6.0, 32-bit, on Win10), and see the same behavior (clicking on a "mailto:..." link in the digest opens a new, blank, tab in T-bird, in addition to opening a new message composition window).? This isn't limited to the Groups.io digest, though -- I'm seeing the same behavior in other emails (e.g. one I received from Yahoo groups).? However, it doesn't behave this way for
all "mailto" links, and I haven't figured out what's different about the ones that make the extra noise (looks to be something about the surrounding HTML, though).
