If you mean the main circuit board in the Gemini 1 metal case you may be better off contacting Michael Herman and discussing how you diagnosed the EPROM as the issue. Re: Gemini 1, NINA, Meridian Flip Mount Disconnect
The G-1 manual says 9800, N, 8, 1 If your comm port settings are wrong, strange things will happen.? Usually when a Micro communicates with an RS232 chip, it will control the data starting and stopping so that buffers in the Micro don't overflow.

Re: Gemini 1, NINA, Meridian Flip Mount Disconnect
madastro, Michael Herman is the ultimate Gemini 1 hardware debugger.? The older Gemini 1 boards often have issues with their I/O ports as they are not protected and sometimes are damaged while being connected incorrectly or through static discharge. Being fairly old now many have had experiences that have caused them to develop issues at their I/O ports. The issue as I understand it the serial I/O chips are basically connected directly to the ports which leaves them very vulnerable to this sort of sneaky damage. Mike probably replaced the RS232 I/O ICs and may have done other mods to improve the Gemini 1 ports and power supply.? That said I think NINA has a high rate of data going back and forth between NINA and Gemini and this amount of traffic can overcome the speed of the Gemini 1 I/O processing which then corrupts the data and can cause issues because the position and data don't match up. I think this was part of the issue found while the Gemini 2 Level 6 firmware was being developed and one of the issues that was resolved to eliminate the small mount moves post plate solving to prevent what appeared as a run-a-way mount situation.? Anyway BEFORE you email Mike Herman verify your USB to RS232 converter and cable are handshaking 100% correctly otherwise nothing will solve the issue. This is a kind of tricky thing to determine unless you are a hardware software person from the olden days like Mike and I are LOL. If not just email him and see what he suggests.? ? -- Chip Louie Chief Daydreamer Imagination Hardware? ? ?Astrospheric Weather for Imagers - Click on my sig! |
Re: Home Position for G11/G1
Page 6 of G1 manual.....see menu G1 Lvl4
['The telescope can be parked at any "Home Position" by either the hand controller or serial control. The home position defaults to the CWD (Counterweight Down) position. Additional commands have been added to the QuickMenu to provide additional parking options and to stop tracking.'] Remember home may still move at sidereal when it stops ensure this does not happen or power off? -- Brendan |
Re: Home Position for G11/G1
Yes, Home can be any position you want.

Re: Home Position for G11/G1
Hi Russell,
I am not familiar with gemini-1 but you can absolutely use a different position to park your mount. With G-2 you simply slew the mount to your chosen position and set that as your new home position. When you¡¯re done observing simply tell the mount to park at home. The advantage of this is you can keep your sky model if you build one. Simply use warm restart when starting your mount, slew to a bright star and sync on it. I am sure the procedure for G-1 is similar. Also, there¡¯s a manual for the g-1 out there somewhere, just do a google search for ¡°losmandy gemini manual¡± (I¡¯m pretty sure it¡¯s in the losmandy website). You might want to give it a glance :) Someone else more familiar will likely chime in Good luck Jonathan |
