Sounds like the thread is stripped. You can try using loctite (blue) on the thread to secure it.
There was a small change between 1.04 and 1.05 to add an extra guiding command (:mi). It's not used by any software that I'm aware of, so there's no real reason to update to 1.05 if you already have 1.04.
