There is no need to heat the the worm wheel for assembly. As you experienced during disassembly they are machined to fine tolerances so if there is a bit of lubricant, the surfaces are clean and correctly aligned they just slip together just as they slipped apart.?

During assembly? Losmandy does not use heat to assemble them and you don't need heat to assemble them either.?
