Model params remaining zero
Am having no success getting a model built in gemini mini system. Following step by step instructions from the website i do not see the model parameters change off of zero. Am having this issue on two completely different gemini systems. I did replace the batteries in both systems per the instructions. Am concerned I might have blown the ARM s or hopefully its something stupid I¡¯m doing . Any suggestions on how to tell if it is the ARMs?

what?steps are you using to build a model? Please be specific i.e., cold start using hand controller, i goto the first target etc. On Sat, Jul 15, 2023 at 10:55?AM <Lgbmail@...> wrote: Am having no success getting a model built in gemini mini system. Hi Brian, thanks much for the quick reply. Have tried both the semi automatic method and manually picking .? I find the initial goto is many degrees off and requires a long period of movement to center it up. Then using the menus to go look at model parameters, they are all still zero. Am going to try this all again tonight but no good hopes. Am at a remote site so a bit challanging.? Had it all working in august of last year

? I find the initial goto is many degrees off and requires a long period of movement to center it up.? that's usually an indication your settings are significantly off. For example, 15 degrees = timezone is off by one hour >>>Then using the menus to go look at model parameters, they are all still zero. Just to clarify, to add points to a model: 1. you need to do a GOTO (you can't just slew to a target) 2. center the target 3. using HC Menu->Model->Align there's a model for the east sky and west sky, they are separate Sounds like one or more of the steps above probably isn't being followed, or you may be looking at the opposite sky model where you haven't yet built points? menu->model->parameters click "switch" button to alternate between sides of sky FYI this is level 6 buttons for HC. if you have L5 it's alignment instead of model button On Sat, Jul 15, 2023 at 11:42?AM <Lgbmail@...> wrote: Hi Brian, thanks much for the quick reply. Cold start, check date time site loc- all ok --- case one?? Menu, align, pick star from bright star list. wait for the goto to show done? Most times I see that it is still in slew for speed. change that to center.? Menu to look at model params? all zero. Select align to get to alignment page, select alignment, menu to go back to model params - still zeros
tried using back to move to next start and go around again..? same behavior? all zeros. For manual approach I'll have to try tonight and right it down..? Old gemini 2 i traded in for the mini I was able to getworking - so am suspecting its me, but was concerned about the possible ARM issue. Battery checked showing 3.1 volts...source showing 13.2v |
Seems like you¡¯re missing a step of centering the star in your eyepiece or on the camera before doing an Align, after the goto. All parameters will remain zero if you don¡¯t center the star. SOrry all. Laptop batter ran out in middle of last message.?? Back up now..? Level 5 not 6 for version..? Am thinking that the build 2 models and switching between vs old one model is probably confusing me vs the old setup..Star centering is highly accurate using an STV with gridlines on .?? well bore sighted to the ota as is an attached laser pointer. and visual location on cano 6d lcd back.?
WIll give it all a careful fresh try this evening and document steps along the way..? one issue last night was when trying the semiautomatic approach the first goto star it selected was Deneb which put me into the limit stop..so then tried to work manual way and possibly there ended up in wrong model.. Shoud I be able to see both model params values by the switch method you list above. after the system has been powered down and brought back up? ( warm start or cold start??) |
you didn't say which firmware you are on? There must be something?missing in your process or your description. This has worked for many people and has not changed for a decade or more >>>Cold start, check date time site loc- all ok How far are you from the target? if your goto results are significantly far from the target, there's a setting that's incorrect, there's not really any other explanation for the behavior you are describing. you can test this without having to be under the stars, just cold start, GOTO, pick any target that's above the horizon, slew to it, press a few diamond buttons? so there's some adjustment to the position, menu->model->alignment then you can look at the model values. Just tried it here On Sat, Jul 15, 2023 at 11:54?AM <Lgbmail@...> wrote: Cold start, check date time site loc- all ok --- case one?? ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSuccess. Key appears I was missing align after model in the semi automated steps.? Successfully did east side only model and am working on M8.? Thanks Brian and others for the comments and suggestions. ?Just a mark 1 brain fault ?Sure wish hc display was red not green Cheers On Jul 15, 2023, at 13:24, Brian Valente <bvalente@...> wrote:

>>>?Sure wish hc display was red not green you can set that in the HC display Menu->HC->DIsplay i suggest adaptive which will start up with an appropriate color for day, dawn, or night (green, blue, red respectively) but you can just set it to night/red directly On Sat, Jul 15, 2023 at 11:20?PM Loren <Lgbmail@...> wrote:
