Re: Very cold weather tracking problem
FWIW, MI-250 mounts (I have one) use the MP-50 lubricant.? Works great in all temps. ?Doesn't separate, harden or anything like that. In the almost 20 years I have had this mount, I regreased it

Hi Bob, I used to be a Doc Clay advocate many moons ago when I bought my first LX200 back in early 1992.? But he changed.? After buying a scope a few years ago that Dr. Clay advertised that he

Chip: Thank you, for the feedback. I appreciate your thoughts and agree about the lubricants. Losmandy does not advertise the Lubricant Kit so I emailed Tanya - hopefully they still carry it. My

Re: Very cold weather tracking problem
Only the very cheap, poor excuse for grease known as white lithium grease is really susceptible to breaking down and drying out and turning into the nasty hard powder that gums up precision machinery.
G11T & NINA 3pt Polar Align
G11T w/Gemini 2, new since last May, permanenty mounted on pier. I wanted to check PA last night in NINA. It moved to the first position then almost froze, I think went to tracking speed. When I

Bob, if you are going to re-grease the mount, I suggest you use the Losmandy's recommended low-temperature grease: /g/Losmandy_users/message/81238 You can also get the full kit for

Paul: Well, truth is, I have not. OK this is a very good possibility, and I will follow the Losmandy instructions/video on how to do that. I was not aware that the lubricant would break down like

I continue to have difficulties getting a Meridian flip with the mount and AsiAir. I've tried numerous options but to no avail. I finally got access to the mount via my Mac and noticed that are two

If you adjusted the worm mesh at ¡°room temperature¡± or even 32F, the worms will bind on the worm wheels at 10F or maybe even at 15-20F. You¡¯ll need to adjust the mesh in the cold, not in the

Hi Bob, When was the last time you regreased the mount? Grease starts to break down over time, and starts absorbing moisture from the atmosphere. When temperatures fall below freezing, grease becomes

Very cold weather tracking problem
I have searched here for "COLD WEATHER TRACKING PROBLEMS" without any success. Here in Maryland the weather has been as low as 4 deg F and in teens at night - rare for us. I have a G11 remotely

I mostly do it when slewing to zenith or checking safety limits. I'll slew both RA and dec at the same time to get where I want faster. Rather than slew RA to desired point, then slew Dec to desired

Re: Tracking stops
That's what settle time is for. It doesn't stop or start tracking. It simply delays the next set of commands by a few seconds after a slew.

Re: Tracking stops
I have always assumed NINA settling time parameter is there to allow mount time to stop vibrating or creeping at the end of a slew before starting an exposure. -- Edward

So what happens when the tracking stops? How do you know that it stopped? The fact that you need to "stop and then start" tracking again to make it work tells me that Gemini is reporting that it is

Don¡¯t know what or how the combination of touch screen button and physical buttons is designed to work. I generally use one or the other, not both simultaneously. I¡¯m also not sure that in years
