Normally if you have the right boxes checked the HC is enabled to be downloaded but cannot be updated until you reboot the Gemini 2 by powering off then powering back up.? You get a updating HC firmware message which can take a long time but eventually it will update and reboot.? Sometimes the Gemini 2 need to be power cycled to get it to wake up after this which AFAIK is normal.?
?
If you have connected to the Gemini-2 over your LAN and can access the Gemini-2 using the network you can also just copy the HC file to the right directory in the Gemini-2 and when the Gemini 2 is power cycled it will update the firmware as above.? ??

David, did you have Flash Firmware selected? HC firmware will not be uploaded if you check just the HC option but not the flash firmware.

Hi David,

I've not had that happen to me. Were you trying to use the touch-screen or the physical buttons? Did you try the ASCOM driver virtual HC buttons? Does it happen every time you hit a safety limit or occasionally?

?

The one thing that could explain it is if the mount somehow reached your hard servo firmware-imposed limit to stop the mount from rotating a full 360 degrees.

ASCOM error with Nina and Gemini 2 drivers (workaround)

I was having issues with Nina slewing to the target after plate solving. Giving declination not reachable even though I was less than a half degree from the target. Tried updating drivers, ?ascom drivers, etc. I was just about to give up when I decided in the framing wizard to hit obtain coordinates from mount. And everything started working. Unfortunately I got a new refractor, which brought clouds as soon as I figured out the solution!

I think your best bet is Losmandy directly or one of the repairers in these forums. If you are in the US Michael Herman is your guy, in the UK or Europe, David Partridge is your bloke, in Australia Brendan is your¡ hmm, what¡¯s the slang for man in oz? :)

Interesting that UV will damage the screen to that extent. I watch and image the sun from time to time so I¡¯ll make a conscious effort to shade it from the sun. Thanks for the heads up

If you update the older firmware to the current L6.1 and HC v1.63 some of the differences might go away.??

Re: Hit RA Safety limit and couldn't move away from it.

I hope this is not too dumb a suggestion so bear with me. If the mount was guiding when it hit the safety limit then the speed was likely set to guide rate. Trying to move the scope away from the limit at that speed is kinda tedious, it will look like nothing is happening. Just make sure you change the speed manually to something faster, like slew or move.?

I haven¡¯t had this issue but, then again, I¡¯m still at level 5 so maybe there is a difference with level 6?

good luck

Hi Paul - thanks and my situations were just during normal imaging sessions with a target that tracked into the mount limits. The HC and virtual HC buttons didn't work similar to what I think David is saying. At that stage I just use the HC to go park at CWD and then use the HC to go to the target again - no automation software is involved (same as Ryan does).

Hope that clarifies a little more.

Replacement Touch Screen

Is there a source for replacement touch screens for the G2 HC??
?
3 year old GM811G screen has been damaged by sun UV exposure over time, such that it is difficult to read.?

I'm sure I've found the solution to solve this issue, though I don't know exactly the mechanism of the problem.
My Gemini-2 for CG-11 (SLW&OPW) was directly connected to my NUC #2 without router.? I assigned the different network to this connection.? Then NUC #2 mounted on OTA was connected to my home network through Wi-Fi.
I've changed to make the Gemini-2 unit join the home network by connecting to a Wi-Fi router.? The unit now becomes one of other devices on the home network.
Under this configuration, I see no response delay.? Still I don't understand why the direct connection between the unit and X270 / NUC #1 doesn't show this issue.
For the time being, I will keep this configuration for my CG-11's Gemini-2.

Hi masami, glad you were able to find a work-around. I suspect some firewall setting on that particular network interface was blocking FTP protocol.

Ken, be careful when using automation software -- it's entirely possible that a command was sent to Gemini put in a park state while waiting for the meridian crossing to do a flip. Gemini has multiple park states, and some of these prevent the mount from moving with HC until the mount is unparked.
