Will the firmware in future for Gemini I also be updated in the
same way as for the Gemini II or is from now on the Gemini I a buried
dead system ? I have the possibility to burn my own EPROMs.
I have 4 Gemini I units and honestly for the moment they are all
working with no problems and an investment for updating to Gemini II is
a No No at the moment.
That would be maybe US $ 4,000.00 or even more ...
No, G1 is not dead. Once everything with G2 is working fine my next
project for the G1 will be to adapt the new HC to it. This will need an
adapter for the DB15 (like the one Tom Hilton had for the additional
USB or serial port) and a new eprom, because the new HC uses some new
serial commands.
But, you should consider to try a G2, nevertheless. There's so much new
and so much to come, especially for observatories like yours and you
can tell me your thoughts and wishes.
