I am also considering not replacing the HC given that I can still image w/o the unit.

I don't know where you are located but if you are in L.A. we could help.? Along the same lines do you have some friends with Gemini 2 systems you can borrow the HC and cable to test if the Gemini 2 is working?? This would isolate the issue to the HC and/or if the HC and cable work you can sub in the cable from the problem set to further isolate the problem.? ?
