To help see the "elusive second star", after aligning the Cassiopeia and Ursa Major constellations in the reticle to where they are in the sky, adjust the mount so that Polaris is within the line gap, then rotate the RA clutch knob (and thus the polarscope) back-n-forth by about 5 - 10 degrees several times while looking in the area where the second star is supposed to be in the reticle. It helps make the second star visibly noticeable.
