you can use either, but you only need the IPE. The "D" in IDE is the development environment, which isn't needed for just programming the chip. I'll fix that

Brian - in the PDF version it says you need the MP Labs IPE and not the IDE version but above you said the IDE version is needed - can the team clarify that?
